When on Tenerife plan your visit to Teide. The dormant (but not extinct) volcano dominates the island (and it's also the highest peak of entire Spain, as well as the highest peak in the Atlantic), and once up there you'll be rewarded with amazing landscapes, and amazing views. Bare in mind that even on sunny day cable-car may be closed... More

Drove up through Orotava valley (TF21) stopping at El Portillo for coffee in the sunshine. Parked at Minas De San Jose to walk amongst the rocks. Took cable car to upper station. Some snow around but paths dry and clear. Bit chilly but sunny (very strong - take a hat). Took path to the left for about 20 mins and... More

If yourey lucky enough to get good weather on the day you visit the volcano, do pay extra for the cable cars. It is so worth it! You can walk around the volcano and feel its warmth from some crevisses. When you are up there, do take notice of how quiet it is. Incredible! (If you are scared about not... More

This was my second visit in six years, both times in late February. Definitely worth the trip, as this was above the fog and clouds and picture-perfect sunny. I enjoyed walking around, soaking up the view and the sun. Everything was perfectly signposted, so it was all safe. The only downsides: 1) the cable car doesn't seem to work this... More

Best place in Tenerife. It is worse the wait, the wind,... the view is just unreal! The walks are very nice too. Loved it

You can't leave Tenerife without seeing Teide - its volcano and mountain. We went with a guide who showed us the place where it last exploded. They are expecting it to explode again by 2020 so watch out.

Breathtaking scenery, dress warm. Bit of a drive up winding roads to the summit but so worth it. Shame the cable car wasn't working so didn't get right to the top which was disappointing. Would hire a car and do at your own pace.

We did the full day excursion and boy it was a full day, 8 hours or so but worth it. We paid 35 euros each and visited an number of places with strange names, all picturesque and great. The volcano has spectacular rock formations and views and the roads are so twisty with steep drops that I am glad we... More
