Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a great way to experience a slightly different side of Teneriffe, visiting the beautiful cloud forests by La Caldera. Take the bus 345 and get off at La Caldera- you then have the option of different routes- but the main one (orange in colour) is well marked and easily walkable. You walk through a very impressive forest of native pines with stunning views of the Orotova Valley below. As well- just driving up there is a nice way to experience the more temperate environment of the mountains, with a lot of vine and fruit plantations and beautiful little houses. We then descended on the left fork of the road towards the village of Augamansa- which was a littlebit challenging, as the path is very windy and steep and there is a lot of pine needles you can slip on. So if you are a bit older or have small kids with you, you might want to stick to the larger path. Otherwise the path was very beautiful and we ended up going through fields and past small farm houses. When visiting another day we also did more of a forest walk- though on this particular day it was very foggy (well, actually clouds!) so it was a bit cold and difficult to see where you were going. Really fantastic area to hike around though, well connected by public transport and also well served by little restaurants.

We have just come back from Puerto de la Cruz and while we were there took a trip to La Caldera the national park area up above the resort on the mountain side
We took the local 345 bus which cost 4.90 euros for a return ticket
The journey up took around 1 hour 30 mins but was a lot quicker coming down !
It was a lovely ride up and the views of the bay and the mountains were fab
There's a nice little cafe at the top and lovely walks
It's really peaceful and well worth the bus trip

Wonderful hike! As previously mentioned you can take the 345 bus from Puerto de la Cruz or take your car. Several different hiking trails start at the Caldera. We hiked for approx. 7 hours in this beautiful area. If there is no bruma, you can see El Teide in the distance.

This was a wonderful, out-of-this-world national park! Driving through, there are lots of walking trails and informational signs. This is a must-do while on Tenerife! The drive up into the Caldera is rich with viewpoints as well.

We took bus 345 from Puerto de la Cruz. Great place for hiking. I had trainers but most other people had hiking boots. Lots of different hikes of varying lengths. The bus was less than 3 Euros each way

Catch the bus from where ever you are staying we went from Puerto De La Cruz. Take your hiking gear as the hikes are a few kilometers.

For 20 years, every time I stay in Tenerife, I have been going to the "Canadas del Teide", the national park on the Teide. Whether in winter, in wind, rain or snow, the main attraction of the island in May/June is the volcanic landscape of the Canadas, covered in a unique sea of flowers.
In addition to white-flowering Teide broom and golden-yellow glowing broom rocket, the star is the flowering candles of the "viper's bugloss".
It is perennial, grows up to 100 metres high and develops up to 50,000 flowers during the flowering period! !
Always an experience for me. Unfortunately, this year, due to the mild winter, the flowering period was pretty much over at the beginning of June and I had to look to see some more in bloom.
