Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A great place to explore with some great views thrown into the bargain.
We travelled by car from Santiago del Teide through Masca to Buenavista del Norte stopping every so often, when it was safe to do so, to take in the views. Be aware that the roads are very twisty, narrow in places and there are lots of hairpin bends with steep drops and no guard rails at times.
We were very intrigued by the hill with three large 'gashes' in its side - Montana La Sahorra and so we stopped to look at the information board (see photos).
This is good hiking country and the weather is, generally, cloudier than the popular south of the island and so the tops of the mountains can be shrouded at times. In fact when we visited the cloud was at such a height that, when we climbed out of Buenavista del Norte through Los Silos, we travelled through the cloud so ended up looking down onto it when we got to the El Tanque area.

We had read that Teno Rural Park (officially, Parque Rural de Teno) is attractive and a good place for hiking. Although we did not have a lot of time, we stopped at the Centro de Visitantes de Los Pedregales. There we explained that we needed to be in San Miguel de Abona in the late afternoon, and we asked for advice. The ranger we spoke to was not only friendly and patient but also well-informed and thoughtful.
He suggested that we continue by car to Teno Alto, and there walk the circular "autoguided trail". He recommended too that at marker 7 of that trail we branch off so as to approach and admire the rugged cliffs extending down to the rocky seashore far below, and he used Google Earth to show us the route. In addition he provided us with the official park map and, more importantly, with the thoughtful trail guide "Teno: A tale of use and distance".
We happily took all his advice and were delighted with the result. Everything was well marked, the walk suited us perfectly, the views were wonderful and we reached San Miguel de Abona on time.
Our one regret: not to have had more time to spend in Teno Rural Park!

One of the best hikes on the archipelago: from Santiago to Masca. So diverse, so beautiful, yet easy.

We ended up here driving to Masca from Garachico. We stopped at a mirador and took a walk from the Cumbre de Baracan. 3k of pure beauty! Don't attempt it if you don't like heights height though!

Really great hike close to Punta de Teno!

It is a bit of a hassle to get to Punta de Teno because the roads are quite windy but it is so worth it!

We did a hike starting from a parking spot at the side of the road just before the lighthouse. Since the hike winds up slowely it isn't too exhausting, but especially when it is sunny make sure to bring a lot of water.

Once a bit higher up you have amazing views of the ocean and the spectacular canyon.

We went to the Teno from Buenaviste del norte, and were stunned by the view, by the drive, by the change of landscape ! It's the way to Masca, the village, and it's an incredible experience. I would definatly go back, and recommend it to every one who seeks for beautiful views high above the sea !

Our 2 favorite walks in this amazing area:
- Camino de los Riscos from Buenavista del Norte between the banana plantages to de small mountain village of Teno Alto and back passing through El Palmar. Magnificent mountain trail!!!
- From the Masca Road to Finca de Guerges, following the mountains "guarding" Masca. While all tourists are crowded together in the Masca, you are on the "roof" of them with the most amazing panoramic views!

Although the road to Teno is closed for cars, scenery was still amazing and stunning.

Either leaving a car or heading to Teno Alt, views along the roads are spectacular.

I wish I had boots for bit of exploration.
