Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Taoro Park above Puerto, from which a large part of the city can be seen, is the green lung of Puerto de la Cruz.
While horse racing used to take place here, the park has been open to the public since 2006 and you can admire the lush vegetation and well-kept grounds with waterfalls and ponds and relax in romantic spots. The park is also used extensively for sporting activities.

Taoro Park has a very nice view and a nice cafe.
The pools on the way up are not well maintained. Sometimes refreshing with water, then at other times unfortunately without water and somewhat neglected. But it is worth climbing up here.
Behind the former Grand Hotel, which is currently being renovated, is the
Parque de la Sortija puerto de la cruz. It is laid out on a large scale, unfortunately there are a lot of dogs running around freely and a corresponding amount of droppings and other droppings. This spoils the walk through the green area.

Every time we come to Puerto we will come here two or three times. There are two parts to it. There are the steps up to it with waterfalls, planting and fish. This leads you to what was the hotel where Churchill, Agatha christie an the Beatles stayed. Behind the building is the main parque, which was the original garden to the hotel. It is now often used for running. At the front of what was the hotel, to the left, is a cafe that probably has the best views of Puerto.

This place is always relaxing, but at the moment it is more so as there are very few peeps around.
Watching the Waterfalls throwing the gallons of water down, is truly mesmerising.
There is also fish, plus Lizards & birds to watch, & it's all free.

We visited 3 times during our holiday. Worth the walk up the steps to have a nice cool drink at the Terrace Cafe with a fabulous view over Puerto de la Cruz. Walk further back and there is a lovely big park to wander round. With green parakeets flying overhead and beautiful blossoms to admire.

A not very big but beautiful park. Located on a hillside, which makes it offer a very beautiful view of the city. Rich vegetation, paths going up in steps, a few small ponds, unfortunately not very well maintained. At its highest point there is also a small cafe.

I was recommended this place by a friend and it didnt disappoint. Very relaxing and unexpectedly quiet (probably beacause of the situation we are going through at the moment).I loved the cakes and the barraquito whilst enjoying the amazing views of Puerto. Also great service by the young guys which i found this very rare in these kind of nice places on the island.

We never saw this park area last time we came and glad we did as we had come up to the Lily gardens which we found were closed down. The is a great open space for locals and visitors alike to walk around and generally wind down from the bustle below in the town. Lots of paths and seats flowers and trees have been planted over the years and now looks well established. There is a cafe just below which did very good hot chocolate.

We have been visiting this park on our holidays over the last 10 years. It's a bit exhausting if you are coming up from the town with the many stairs or the steep road alternative but it's worth it. There are a few cafes and an Anglican church nearby.

We enjoyed our walk up to Sortija Park and then across to Taoro Park. The views are fabulous and there is a nice cafe for lunch in Taoro. I only gave it 3 because the water wasn't switched on which was disappointing after a strenuous hike up. The surrounding area was very pleasant.

Are there areas around the park that are suitable for picnics? Eg picnic benches or flat(ish) areas of grass to sit down on? Thank you!!
Written 7 November 2018
Not really, only a few benches/seats, but about half a Kilometre up the road is a parque where you could sit & have a picnic, called Parque de la Sortija
Written 7 November 2018
Facilmente no, el parque está en cuesta, calles estrechas, lo mejor subir en taxi, eficientes y baratos.

Is parquet taoro pram friendly?
Written 21 March 2018
Not really, it’s built into the cliff side with lots of steps to climb from the entrance at the bottom. You can use an entrance at the top though which is relatively flat and from there you can see the views over Puerto de la Cruz, the waterfall feature and get access to the cafe.

Slight correction to the answer I gave yesterday. I was forgetting which side of the road the bus stops. You still need the stop for the English School but cross over the road when you get off the bus and walk forward in the same direction for about 70 metres before you turn left for the park. Sorry about that error.

How do I get to Parque Taoro from Playa Jardin? Is there an entrance charge?
Written 7 March 2015
Walk up the hill from Playa Jardin to the traffic lights, turn left along Calle Cupido to the bus stands. Get a 350, 351 or 353 bus to the English School. Get off there, walk forward about 15 metres, turn left and follow the road around. You will come to the English Church (Iglesias Anglicana) and a memorial garden to the world's worst air disaster (Tenerife Nord, 1980). You are now at the top lof the Parque Taoro and can have a pleasant leisurely stroll through the park, exit by the Miramar hotel and then continue down the hill to the Jardin Taoro that is much more varied in plants and layout. Carry on walking down the hill until you get back into town.
Alternatively take a cab to the English Church (Iglesias Anglicana) and proceed as before. The cab fare will only be about 3 euro.
