Overview
More
The Museum of Nature and Man has organised a modern museum exhibition project to present the investigation and conservation work conducted over the decades by the Museum of Natural Science and the Archaeological Museum of Tenerife. The result offers an insight into the natural wealth of the Canary Islands on the one hand, and on the other, it is a chance to discover the largest existing collection on the Guanche culture. The Guanches are the aboriginal people that inhabited Tenerife before the arrival of the first European conquerors.

I would have enjoyed this museum much more if it wasn't for my bored 5-year old! If you have small kids with you – probably better if you go elsewhere. I think it's a great place for adults / older children if you want to...More

This was a through museum covering the biodiversity, archaeology and natural sciences of the Canary Islands. There's an audio tour available in English that you can access via your phone. It was really fascinating and I enjoyed the archaeological tour more than the natural sciences...More

I had some time to kill in Santa Cruz and spent a few hours in the museum. I really enjoyed it, but some of the exhibits appear quite old and outdated (particularly those concerning the formation of the Canary Islands). The Archaeological collection was very...More

Lack of English guidance or notes on the exhibits makes it hard to engage with the exhibitions. As a result, not really worth €5 to get in.

We spent more than hour here, but - as many said - we would spend much more if the informations were in English. There is, however, a free english speaking smartphone app, but in this case I would recommend you bring your headphones with you.

Now don't get me wrong the Guanche mummies are fantastic. The information is all in spanish. This can be translated with an android app but the feel is more for locals than for visitors. Also tucked away in a side room. I am really interested...More

Fantastic exhibition of mummies and a fair collection of plants, animals and archeological artefacts. The curatation is very interesting and modern, but only few things are told in other language than spanish.
