Smaller than some cathedrals and not as lavish inside but well kept and maintained. Not one of must see cathedrals but worth a visit if you are in the area

Arrived on a Sunday while mass was going on and were told we couldn't enter. However, when we told them that we wanted to listen to mass they let us in.

the cathedral has a small garden surrounded by cloisters with benches where you can sit. I does look a bit like a fortress from certain angles. It is very serene inside. Dont be put off by the fierce sounding security lady with the truncheon, she is just directing visitors during services inside.

Santander Cathedral is a pleasant place with fairly simple decor as cathedrals go in Spain and a nice cloister. It really isn't a top tier place to visit. I'd prioritize other sites. Admission is 1 Euro.

Taking a group of friends to visit, a wedding was in progress after which the Cathedral was closed. Mass was in progress in the undercroft after which the gates, again were firmly closed. A must-see for me, access is not reliable.

nice area to sit and have a drink and something to eat, we have had breakfast there in the past and really enjoyed it. Having said this, the recent evening meal we had here was not so good, the service was really slow because it was very busy and seemed well under staffed, we sat outside and had to wait... More

The church has a cloister where you can go inside the gothic cathedral which is in the upside of the building and which is regular. It is possible to visit the tower where you can finde a little museum and see the mechanism of the clock and the views are nice. But the place that you can't miss is the... More

After being brusquely escorted from the cathedral because it was closing, we decided to visit the following day. The Chapel was very dark and difficult to see, the cathedral charges €1 for entry, which is collected by another brusque employee. I wouldn't recommend this sight due to the main focus on financial gain and not the historical significance. The building... More

Whilst not as stunning as many Spanish cathedrals from the exterior and also not as lavishly decorated, Cathedral Santander is an understated gem and its cloisters are absolutely lovely. Certainly well worth a visit.

Very friendly reception. Very friendly people inside. A local woman explained us the history of the cathedral. But in Spain you will find cathedrals that are more spectacular, impressive. The courtyard was nice, but again, nothing spectacular.
