Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were in Santander after docking at the ferry port.
We arrived early so decided to stretch our legs and take in some more sea air!
A wonderful beach, very quiet and with great views!

The best beach in Santander. It’s really quaint little alcove beach. Worth the many steps down. The water is shallow, clear and soft sandy bottoms. We got the bus linea 1 or 2 from city centre. Short walk from the last stop. You also pass by this beach on your way to Cabo mayor. There was a bit of a queue today around 12 noon but wait wasn’t too long. They have an electric sign to say how busy the beach is.

My favorite beach in Santander. Quiet and away from the city. Definitely worth climbing dozens of stairs for.

You can either walk around and enjoy the view above or go to the beach during summer season.
Crystal clear water, perfect sand and amazing location.

The views are stunning and the walk from the park and around the little peninsula which houses the golf course is worth taking.

Paradise on the Earth. Do you doubt it? Just take a look at the photos and tell me I´m in a mistake… One problem: there are a lot of stairs (a hundred or so) to go down to it ... and to climb up afterwards.
It does not matter if you don´t want to go down to the beach: the surroundings are simply wonderful.

Medium size beach with huge waves and lovely view. Liked it because it is not as crowded as the rest of the beaches in Santander and its also really close to the Lighthouse which is a “must visit” spot in the city.

Beach in a privileged natural environment. Although it is not the beach for walking, there is usually enough space to play football or the local sport, palas (with rackets). Careful with the sea currents.

Aim to get there as early as possible in order to find a parking space. Make sure to bring lunch with you if you want to spend the whole day there as it might be annoying to go to any restaurant located upstairs.

Reward yourself from the effort with a nice ice cream🍦

This is a beautiful beach a couple of km from El Sardinero heading towards El Faro (the Lighthouse). The stairs to reach the beach of Mataleñas are steep but safe. This beach is very popular during the summer, and swimming in its pristine waters can be a great experience with good weather, but it can also turn deadly if there is ground swell. Always watch for the flag (red is don't swim, yellow is exercise caution, and green it's safe to swim). Great area for snorkeling as well. Recommended.

We found this a superb alternative to el sardinero. So quiet and picturesque. Watch out for anything but a green flag though for swimming. I went into the sea on yellow and found it difficult to get out owing to huge waves and current. The lifeguards seems oblivious. My husband thankfully pulled me out.
