- Bev MIsle of Mull, United Kingdom43 contributionsSightseeingWe were enroute to Madrid but decided to take a detour to Toledo. We arrived around 6pm as it was getting dark, but we luckily parked in a car park next to the library and a visitor land train (with English commentary) came along, so we got on and had a quick sightseeing trip around the city roads. Very interesting. The whole place is amazing with so many historical buildings. We will return when we have more time.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 November 2023

It has a wonderful variety of historical structures reflecting the cultures of the city. This is a fascinating UNESCO World Historical Site. It was very interesting walking around the streets of old town in Toledo.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 January 2024

Do take the time to see it from afar as the panaromic view of the city is also stunning. It has cultural influences of Christians, Muslims, and Jews and that can be seen from the variety or architecture on show. Visitors can get a fantastic view of the entire old city from across the river. Can easily spend a couple of days enjoying the city.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 May 2024

I could see there was beauty in the place but it was shockingly overcrowded. Queues and slow moving crowds and tour groups everywhere even at the start of march. It was a weekend and the tourists were almost all Spanish so may have come from Madrid. My advice, if you come here avoid weekends or you will feel like you are in a giant theme park.

To enter the Old Town of Toronto, you should first take a hand lift that is about two floors long. It is recommended for Travellers to arrange Things to do in the city, the Things to do route to the city should be planned, because most are stone roads, and the city is mountainous, there are many slopes, many Attractions are almost not going backwards, if you don't want to go wrong, you can take the Things to do small train or bus, and take the lift to view the castle area.
From the hand-lift exit, you can quickly walk to the main square of the Old Town, where you can see the walking tour to invite Travellers, participating in this type of city Things to do is free, and the end is usually a thank you for the guide fee, but you need to buy a ticket to visit the Attractions.
This Spanish city is very special, you can visit and see Christian, Jewish and Islamic buildings at the same time, this one-day tour is included, follow the tour guide Amanda and look around, and feel the charm of the old city that is still in this time!

Spain has quite a few exceptional cities, each with its virtues, but I sincerely believe that if all of us who like to make tourist visits (cultural, monumental, artistic, gastronomic,...) had to choose the five best, scoring from one to the next. five points, with the one that fascinates us the most being worth five, each with their own tastes, and if counted later, Toledo would be among the first three and probably the first. In short, there is no space to put all the wonders it has, obviously not in one day or even in a weekend do you have time to see everything, but put on comfortable shoes, organize your priorities, stay for at least two full days and enjoy of a unique City-Museum in the world

I met Toledo and it was love at first sight!
I learned a lot about history, the architecture is something exceptional and the city with its ups and downs and recesses is a magical place.
It was really worth the visit and we did not have much time, but we lacked time to go more, we will return.
We did a guided tour with a man of whom I forgot his name, but I want to congratulate him because he made all the difference, he knows a lot and what he does not know he seeks. Accept and ask opinions with the humility of the greats, it is extremely notorious that he likes what he does, stands out far from others, I will leave a picture of him (I think his name is Alejandro), so that his tours do them with him, makes a difference really.
The tours we did with Getyourguide.es, highly recommended, offers excellent activities, at better prices than buying them in isolation, are super serious, attentive and one fits the package according to the days you are in each place. I recommend 100%!

We love charming medieval villages/towns and Toledo is right up there with the best! It's larger than Segovia so has different feel to it, but definitely recommend going with a guide or taking your time to wander not only touristy streets but charming quiet alleyways, very nice indeed! Went on a weekday last week - not crowded at all fortunately. Has a different feeling to it than Segovia in our opinion - this one takes longer to walk which is nice if have the time. We feel both cities are must sees!

We have been before but this is such an amazing city you can come again and again. Aside from the obvious attractions it is lovely just to explore the streets and alleys looking at the architecture. This place is a great day trip from Madrid but you can't see it all in one day.

Justifiably listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the old town of Toledo is an attractive, historic and very interesting place to visit. Not surprisingly, lots of people think the same and the city centre can get very busy. It is worth noting however that if you venture into some of the little side streets away from the shopping areas, you can find lots of peaceful places to wander.

Hi John, what's the best way to travel from Madrid to Toledo?
Written 3 October 2019
We took one of the tour buses. It was convenient and informative. We did the full day trip which started with a short tour and then gave us the rest of the time on our own. The 1/2 day trips is not long enough. We enjoyed having a brief overview and then time on our own to explore. The Cathedral is truly amazing. Make sure you allocate enough time but also make sure you get to view the baths. They close during the midday so you have to time that location right. Enjoy!

Hi, I am flying into (and out of) Madrid - but staying in Toledo. What is the easiest/cheapest way to get to Toledo from Madrid airport - thanks
Written 8 July 2019
I am using Welcome. But that is a private transfer.
My suggestion is Expedia search for transfers. They will have options. Or better off Trip Advisers search best tours to Toledo. The cheapest would be a bus tour from airport. 100s a day coming into Toledo. Pick the one that offers the best in sites because:
- I like an informed guide.
- I like to know where I am going.

I took a bus tour, that was the best convenient way to move from Madrid to each of Andalusia area cities.

What are folks' thoughts about whether to spend a night in Toledo or just do a day trip?
Written 27 February 2018
If a day trip, spend all day, it’s amazing! We took the train from Madrid and it was our favourite spot in Spain. Spent three weeks in Spain and Toledo was the highlight.

Were you pleased with your tour guide? We only have 1.5 days in Toledo & prefer to have a private guided tour of the historic city. Thank you.

We have no tour guide, actually the audio guide of the cathedral is excellent. Have fun!
