The visit to Atapuerca is more a visit of the mind. A shuttle bus drives you to the yacimientos where you put on a helmet (exactly why, I am not sure since we were most of the time with open sky over us, but the good thing is that it protects from the sun). The guided tour takes around 1:30,... More

INteresting and well organized place to visit (book a guide for your group to do the activities with) with children or groups. This place was more interesting than the actual archaeological site nearby.

We had a great young guide, who was very interested in the topic and keen to answer questions. The site tour consisted of a short level walk to three different sections cut into the limestone - each section with a different focal story about different stages and species in the history of Early Man - Homo antescesor, Homo heidelbergensis (or... We joined a tour in Spanish and the tour guide tried to explain more in English however he was so animated it didn't matter, we just wished we knew more Spanish. The bus took us out to the mine site where they found the human remains. Very cold and very interesting, then we came back and toured the museum which... More

We were a group of archaeologists (one of whom was an expert on the subject) and we were really disappointed that the trip to Atapuerca was completely in Spanish. The guide did speak English, but she said it would be impossible to tell us anything in English, which we thought wasn't at all helpful considering it was an hour and... More

When I hear about archaeology I go "Interesting but I'm not that much into it". Luckily enough I went on to this visit and it reminded me that being so close to thousand year remnants while a captivating guide transports your mind to the time and place of their "making" is something that neither a book or even a museum... A must visit with a guide to get involved in the prehistoric times of Europe. There are 3 areas where the archeologs work, perfectly explained by one of the workers who has been there since 2006, so you get first hand explanation! Amazing

Arriving with the a group of 22 people organised by TEDX Palma we were full of anticipation because we knew this was going to be a tour of a lifetime. We were to be guided by Professor Ignacio Martinez who has spent more than 30 years involved in the digs on this site. To hear his experiences and see the... More

Very interesting and educating visit. The visit is guided only. To book you need to go to the museo de la evolucion in Burgos very early or at centro de interpretacion in Ibeas. The visits start at 11:00h. You only will see the excavation sites while listening to the guide's explanation, but it is worth. After the visit you can... More
