The old part of León is a rather small, but very nice to walk through. There are parts of the city wall remaining, the area around the cathedral and the barrio humedo with several pleasant smaller squares as well as a very nice plaza mayor....More

Worth half a day exploring this area. We didn’t go inside any museums or the Cathedral as the guided bus tour groups were in force. A good way to orientate is to get the little tourist train from near the Gaudí museum. You can then...More

I read some reviews before visiting: that is small and underwhelming. León peaked around the late s.XI... it is small but has outstanding monuments, the Cathedral, San Isidoro in the old town or San Marcos by the river. The Plaza Mayor is really lovely and...More

The historic centre is interesting and lively with plenty of restaurants and cafes. It's a living city too with all the normal facilities, not a museum. Wandered round all day and still found little streets I hadn't seen that evening. I plan on going back...More

Just wandering through the narrow streets, one discovery after the other. Not only the highlights and the landmarks, but also the little things. What is there not to like about the historic city?

The historic section of Leon has a range of beautifully restored buildings, huge numbers of restaurants and bars, and some iconic world class buildings such as the Cathedral. In typical Spanish style, it wakes slowly but parties late, with Thursday, Friday And Saturday nights absolutely...More

Clean and well ordered with a plethora of sites & sights. Really only visited for The Cathedral but spent an extra hour walking, sightseeing and taking photos. On the flat which is a Godsend. Pleasant Visitor Information Centre.

The historic center was a bit underwhelming compared to some other places we have been in Spain. There are lots of tapas bars in the evening and a very pleasant ambiance. However there are relatively few sights to see which was a bit disappointing. Our...More

Except for one or two streets, we were rather underwhelmed by our visit to León. There are many boarded up or closed shops with graffiti everywhere and a general feeling that not enough money is being spent on maintaining the historical fabric of the old...More
