Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

VEry interesting mural painting of constellations in the University of Salamanca, accssed through the Patio de Escuelas. The painting was made in the 1480s and at some point covered over, only to be rediscovered hundreds of years later when the part of the covering in the vault collapsed. Can be viewed free of charge, if open and you can locate it!

It's free. It takes a few minutes of your time. It's beautiful. If you speak Spanish, then you can read everything about it. If not, go online.

Salamanca is a bit off the regular Spanish trip plan but missing it is a big mistake.
Salamanca’s university was founded in 1218 forming the heart of this beautiful old city. Those buildings, the Plaza Major, and the art Deco museum are reason enough to go! But there is more.
I recommend staying at the gorgeous Parador, walking distance from everything, with a drop dead view of the city. Other musts:
Savor the jamon
See the El Ceilo
Convento de
Santa Clara

Beautiful and amazing. As mentioned in a previous review, a little detail in English would have been appreciated. A must see.

A 15th century ceiling mural depicting stars and constellations. It was rescued and moved to Escuelas Menores, now a museum of Salamanca University. The mural is very interesting given that it was painted over 500 years and is now lit up on the ceiling. Admission is free.

Drop by the Escuelas Menores to look at this fresco painting that used to be in the university library. It's free and rather interesting! But avoid guided groups at all costs, it's tiny and you won't even be able to hear yourself think

Atmospheric painting on a domed ceiling in quiet, darkened room. We were the only visitors. It would have been helpful to have more information about the picture and a guide to all the figures depicted, but there was something magical about the experience.

Amazing hidden place, a must if you visit the city! It's like an old sky-map with all the stars and constellations marked. Beautiful art in it, too!

Working without the benefit of the explorations by Copernicus and Galileo, Fernando Gallego, attempted to merge myth, science, and religion by combining astrology and night-sky astronomy.
The Sky of Salamanca is represented in a quarter-sphere vault partially framed by a Latin inscription.
Painted in the 15th century, and uncovered during restoration works in the middle of the 20th century, the fresco was relocated to the University Museum in one of the wings of the Escuelas Menores courtyard.

A hidden away gem by the university. A fresco of the astrological sky. The entrance is free. You may not take photographs.
