My wife and I were short on time and trying to get pictures of Alcazar before we lost the light. We rounded a corner and came upon the magnificence of the Cathedral of Segovia. Honestly, a beautiful piece of architecture.

We visited the catherdral on a wet day and it was well worth it. A vast basillica with numerous alcoves containing sculptures, paintings and artifacts and two fantastic organs. it was November so was a litle cold inside. It is not expensive to get it. Worth a visit

This was a very beautiful Cathedral in the heart of Segovia. A lot of history inside of this Church. It just amazes me as we travel throughout Europe and the world, the amount of money it must have cost to build and maintain these church. It was a sign of power and domination during earlier times.

One of the last Gothic style cathedral built in Spain. Well preserved and very large for its relative non-prominence. Actually this was built as one of the last main cathedrals for the Kingdom of Castille and Leon before the unification of Spain with the marriage of Ferdinand and Isabel. Well worth a visit while in town. Although not ranking in... More

Very accessible, many areas in the main Cathedral are open to visitors, no photography but it seemed they really didn't mind if you took pictures. Don't miss the entry to the courtyard where they have there best artifacts tucked away in small rooms. Nice views from the tower but high effort to get up there.

The cathedral was first built closer to the Alcazar which is about a 10 minute walk or so down hill. I think there was a fire a few hundred years back and they bought down each remaining piece of the cathedral that they could to rebuild it where it stands now. It's grandiose design and architecture hasn't been affected as... More

The handsome soaring bell tower (climbable) and ornate dome over the central crossing make Segovia Cathedral a landmark for miles around. This is actually the "new cathedral" 243 years in building and not finished until the mid C18th. However it is unusual as the fine gothic cloister on the south side and the ornate buttresses and finials around the apse... More

The outside is quite ornate from the Gothic Flamboyant era. Interior was never finished due to lack of funds but old pieces from previous churches including the choir and many side altars are quite beautiful. Ceiling frescos/paintings in a few of the side altars give a view of what the finished interior would have looked like. Paintings and Flemish tapestries... More

I visited it in a hurry, but it was an enjoyable experience. A very interesting architecture, and an interior that seemed to me very special.
