Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Built by famous art nouveau architect Muntaner in the early 1900`s this a this is a beautiful hospital complex ( no longer being used as a hospital) with several buildings and gardens. It also houses some interesting exhibits and history of the hospital. This complex has been designated as a Unesco site.
It takes about two hours to go though it and it is well worth the visit. It is about a 15 minute walk from Sagrada Familia so it may be worthwhile to do both on the same day.

The Hospital de Sant Pau, designed by the architect Luis Domenech i Montaner, is grandiose. The territory is large. Each structure of the complex was completed without repeating another. Unusual, beautiful and colorful architecture. Not all of them were open to the public, but those that could be visited were striking in their interior decoration. A worthy attraction in Barcelona.

The area is very nice, lots to see and absolutely love the architecture. The map given during ticket purchase wasn't accurate and we had to do lots of searching. Would still dedinitely recommend!

Beautiful hospital complex. At first, we had some trouble finding the main entrance. Friendly staff. The complex is huge. Nice to have an audioguide with you.

So in most guide books, the Hospital Santa Pau is not really played up. In Rick Steves it is almost a footnote! We spent nearly 3 hours touring this architectural gem! This is one of the most unique and well thought out public buildings of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The audio-tour is both audio and visual as your audio box is also a mini TV with fantastic early photos and construction photos.
You are really cheating yourself if you do not take this tour!

I cannot even conceive any country anywhere in the world building such a magnificent hospital for the common people. The architect was a visionary and the design was beautiful. A special highlight was the boardroom and the magnificent warm colours throughout. Well worth seeing

From the Sagrada Famiglia head up Avenue Gaudi to the grounds of Santa Creu e San Pau, once a hospital. A gem designed by Montaner in Art Nouveu style- buildings and gardens are spectacular.

I went to the website and everything is available in English except for the part to buy the ticket. Is there a discount for the visit with the audio guide for people over 70? How many buildings are open to the public? How much time would you allow for a leisurely visit?

Hi, I didn't think that they celebrated Mass at the old hospital. If they do then I am sorry but I do not know the times.
