About
Steel Donkeys are the first and only alternative bike rides of Barcelona. We're not about dry historic facts and the same daily routines that characterise other mass market bike tours. We're about getting on a bike and exploring the hidden corners of the city, like flea markets, futuristic skyscrapers, vintage shops, secret courtyards and local beaches... Our guides are young, knowledgeable locals who were either born in Barcelona or have lived here for several years. We like to talk about the real experience of life in the city, modern politics, culture and stories. But most of all we like to have a fun relaxing day out on a bike with our new friends... you! We ride with a maximum of 8 people, offering a more personal experience, greater mobility and sustainability (as this way we don't contribute to the congestion of mass tourism). When you ride with us you'll never feel like just another tourist on the treadmill. Hope to see you soon in Barcelona!

The historical tour was amazing! We visited so many places, and Alex explained the history of every single one. It was very safe, and Alex made sure no one was left behind. I almost wanted to go again!

Alex was an amazing tour guide. Very knowledgeable with great insights and history. We stopped by local neighborhoods and tried very tasty treats along the way. Very fun four hours.

Our tour guide Alex was amazing and showed us the best custard pastry place! We went to some churches, examples of industrial architecture, parks, and other historical sights. Alex gave us a great background of the history and atmosphere of the city, especially as a local!

We took the afternoon tour in mid November, we were lucky with the weather but luckier still with alejandro. Alex was a brilliant, knowledgeable fun guide, enthusiastic about his subject and his local knowledge helped add some more tangible and contemporary relevance to the ride between stops as well s the sights themselves.
An excellent way to see some of the less well trodden parts of Barcelona, cover more ground than on foot and give a bit more orientation of the city.

Fantastic way to see many different neighbourhoods of Barcelona. Leisurely pace. Great tips of locals places to eat and drink. So much content. Alejandro was enthusiastic and interesting throughout the whole tour.

I appreciated how flexible they were, because of a transportation mixup I arrived 15 minutes late and they were able to catch me up on the tour I was signed up for. It was a small group and I loved the camaraderie I experienced with the other folks and our guide. The tour was so helpful in orienting me to the city, which I needed for the remainder of my time in Barcelona. I highly recommend.

Really great bike tour of Barcelona. Our only regret is that we didn't do this tour on day 1 to give us a small overview of Barcelona. Augustine was wonderful. Lots of knowledge.

WOW! This was the highlight of our Barcelona visit. Marianna was our guide and was extremely informative and flexible. We had four adults and four children between ages 7-10 in our group and it was the most wonderful way to see the city. Marianna perfectly balanced an educational and cultural experience for our family while also keeping the kids entertained. She took us to very safe areas for the kids to ride. If you have a strong bike riders, a bike tour with Marianna is the way to go!

Alex, our guide was very charming, and took us through the most beautiful back streets of Barcelona where everything is pedestrianised. It was stunning.. and Alex was just so informative, and it helps that he is a history and geography teacher in Barcelona. Born and bred here - he knew everything!
