The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883.

The Temple has always been an expiatory church, built only from donations. As Gaudi said: "The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people." In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the site as a minor basilica.

Buy your ticket online, provide the audioguide and enjoy. That's all I have to say about this wonderful construction Gaudí created. Even if you are not religious, go there. Feel the energy of a rainforest when you enter. Feel the magic of an unfinished construction. You will not regret.

You can't really visit Barcelona without coming here. Very busy, I would book tickets in advance. We didn't go inside because of queues but the outside alone is worth the visit.

Amazing and a must see, but crazily crowded. Make a reservation well in advance otherwise it's unlikely you will get tickets.

It is pretty obvious why this is the number one attraction in Barcelona. It is unlike any church you will ever see. Gaudy was a genius. The engineer precision it took to plan is amazing in and of itself. One thought....we did the guided tour in English and I wished we just did the audio tour ourselves. Our guide's English... More

Although this a a crazy busy attraction and you might be tempted just to look at the outside. You really must go inside. Gaudi's use of light and space is unbelievable. Make sure you go!

The Sagrada Familia is the must see location. One of the most beautiful Basilicas in the world, still not finished though, but totally worth to see. Piece of art you mustnt miss,

This was one of the best experiences of our lives. We took a tour which we normally don't do. I highly recommend this as there were so many details and information that we would have not known, which made the tour so amazing. It is a sight to see and no one should skip this!

This church is a work in progress for over a 130 years and counting! And that is the fascinating part about this piece of architecture - how it has evolved over time. We spent the most part of half a day there and I'm certain that I could have spent several days there because there is just so much detail... More
