This fascinating area is steeped in history, with city hall located in the same spot where kings once reigned. You'll find narrow streets and squares here, with Gothic mansions, museums, historic churches, bars and restaurants. The Placa del Rei is reputedly the place where King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella welcomed Columbus after his voyage to America.

spend time wandering around the old city, la-ramblas is just for tourists! As in any major city keep hold of your valuables and be careful of being ripped off. Can get congested in some areas so be patient if you have a push-chair...

Nice to wander around this area of Barcelona and watch the residents go about their business. Not much to do or see but the feel of the area was nice.

Strictly speaking the Old City is divided into four quarters. Barceloneta, Barri Gotic, La Ribera, El Laval. Running down the centre of the old town is Les Rambles that stretches from Plaça Catalunya to the Mediterranean Sea. A good way to explore the old town...More

Located to the left of the (in)famous Las Ramblas (when walking towards the harbeour) this area of old Barcelona, with its narrow streets offer an enormous variety of small restaurants, boutiques and old shops worthwhile visiting.

A lovely place to stroll. A bit of a hustle bustle, but not crazy.

under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War
with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and
authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be
