I have been taking photos for about 45 years. I have done lots of darkroom work and have a pretty good working knowledge of technical photography. I came to Barcelona in July and sought out Ben to show me the best places to photograph. I met with Ben twice over the course of my trip to Barcelona in July and was completely amazed by the breadth of his knowledge! Ben's knowledge about light, shadow, contrast, and his exceptionally keen eye coupled with his very easy going personality and ability to share his knowledge in a down to earth manner make him a rare photography professional indeed! Even though I like to think I know quite a lot about photography, Ben taught me something new each time I have met with him. More importantly, Ben is very adept at putting his concepts of photography in writing. Ben does a deep dive into researching his material for publication. Ben's publications on photography are interesting, easy reads for newcomers to photography, but which make even experienced photographers step back and look at their work from a different and new perspective. I just came back to Barcelona for a second time and met up with Ben again. As with my first two visits with Ben, I take away more than I came with! I believe Ben will be one of the names in photography that we will see for many years to come and continually improving the craft for all. I cannot recommend Ben highly enough. His enthusiasm for photography is contagious and his photographic work is simply some of the best I have ever seen.

If you enjoy and dabble in photography but would like a better understanding in a short amount of time then you must learn with Ben. I have been traveling in Europe and have been taking many photos and decided I needed to get better so I booked with Ben about a month in advance.
This meant I had time to think about my intention and how I thought the class may go and what I would learn. I was a bit worried maybe I had too high of expectations for myself as I was only getting three days of lessons. Well, Ben blew my expectations out of the water! For someone who is so good at photography Ben is also a tremendous teacher. How I view photography has completely changed and I have a lot of work to do but I feel much more confident in how to approach photography. This has been one of the better experiences of all my travels in Europe. Thanks Ben!

I emailed Ben about a photo course in Barcelona with a special twist at the end. I wanted to take my girlfriend on a photo tour, and then at the end propose and have Ben photograph it. He could not have been more accommodating and helped me work out all the details for the special day. He showed us how to improve our photos, to notice details and how to work with lighting to really make our pictures incredible. He showed us around the city and knew many great spots for special photos. At the end of our time we ended up on the beach and we had it all worked out so that he was there taking pictures of the proposal at sunset. It was very special and Ben helped make it all happen. Can't recommend him enough!

I met Ben for a personal photography workshop in Barcelona. I always loved taking pictures trying to express my feelings and the way I look at the world. Ben has been not only a teacher for improving technical skills, but also an incredible sensitive open minded person with a deeply emotional approach to the art of photography. I think he is a "complete" teacher...taking care both of the brain and the heart which are behind photography. ..Furthermore he writes essays, articles, books, covering the whole multifaceted world of this unique art. Looking forward to have more workshops with him and keeping on exchanging ideas about the interest in Photography that we share.

Ben did a great job - he was friendly and polite, and he helped me get some great photos that I would not have been able to get on my own without his guidance. Highly recommended if you are visiting Barcelona, the one-to-one advice is well worth it.

I just had a 4 hrs private course with Ben. First I must say I was very happy with his quick reply when I sent him my emails.
On the day we met, he gave me many good tips, he was very patient, and understood what my needs were.
After the course was over, he also sent me a lot of useful info.
I can strongly recommend Ben if you are in Barcelona and are looking for some good advice and tips about photography.

I have to say that this course went far beyond of all my expectations!!! Ben sees a photograph in every moment, and doesn't just shows you "how to" he shows you what are the things you need to look for to be able to "see" the moment to "see" the photograph, Ben’s understanding of light, how to see it and photograph it’s just amazingly natural, needless to say that Barcelona is an amazing city, but Ben shows you how to see it, feel it and make amazing pictures. take the 2 day course, I highly, highly recommend it.
I only wish I had met Ben before and learn his approach, besides he is an exceptional individual, I feel I gained so much more in depth understanding of the craft of Photography than I could have ever gotten from a book or video or even from a crowded photography workshop.
I you want to learn to make great images, to see the light and capture the moment, you have to see Ben, trust me when I say, you will not regret it one bit.

I am a beginner in using DSLR, and have been using it as a point and shoot camera. While in Barcelona, I took the opportunity to sign up for the photography class. I am glad I did. Ben is an excellent instructor. He explained the technical and artistic elements of photography in the way that I can understand. The 4 hour course had opened the door for me to explore photography to a different leve. I highly recommend it.

I booked Ben for a three hour course as a birthday present for my wife. He made it an unforgettable experience which we both will be able to make great use of in the years to come! His insights in lightning techniques, camera use and general photographic 'eye' was superb. He showed us great places in Barcelona, especially La Boqueria was fantastic with all the colours and sights (and not to forget the fresh juices there!). We can't recommend Ben enough and will surely continue our education if we have the chance again. Thanks, Ben!

We scheduled a private session for our daughter who loved every minute of it (was about 3 hours).
Ben showed her how to be much better with her camera and did that is a very pleasant way. He knew how to get her attention (she is 12 years old) and she will remember this experience as a highlight of Barcelona. We are very happy we did that and would recommend warmly!
