My wife and I took the Premium Montserrat & Gaudi Tour booked through the Barcelona Tourist Office website. The tour far exceeded our expectations. We learned a lot more about Gaudi and Guell at the Colonia World Heritage site and the local community. At Monserrat we got a behind the scenes tour of the school and exceptional positioning for the boys choir performance in the church. It also put us in an excellent location to queue to see and touch the Madonna. Our guide, Lilia, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The package also included free admission to the art museum which was very impressive.

The tour itself was fantastic. Both our guide, Gemma, & driver, Joseph, we’re fabulous. The only minor blemish we would state is if you purchase the additional funicular ride above Montserrat, be warned there are very limited views of Montserrat in the immediate area once you disembark. There may be views elsewhere but the walks are beyond moderate effort. Given the amount of “free” time you have once the guided portion concludes consider your options before riding the funicular.

This day trip made it possible for us to hit two cities in one day. Mark, our exceptional tour guide, was terrifically organised and highly articulate, very approachable and helpful. We were impressed that he spoke in English and Spanish continually throughout the tour. He anticipated our questions and concerns and addressed them before we even got to ask. His time projections regarding arrival times at various places were totally accurate. The day went by without a hitch. We had a lovely local tour guide in Girona who took us around the city and helped us remember how to get back to the bus station on time. We were given a few hours to see Girona and visit museums and churches. We rushed around like mad hens and made it to the station on time. If you know where and how to use your limited time in Girona (through prior research), you'll make the most of your time there. Figueres was great for the Dali Museum and the Dali Jewels. Mark talked about selected art works at the Dali Museum and then gave us time to dash through the museum and see everything else. We really appreciated the fact that he told us which SPECIFIC rooms to be sure to see. I was most impressed with the Dali Jewels since I didn't know that Dali made jewelry and there was stunning jewelry on display. The rooms were deliberately darkened to ensure that the pieces of jewelry shone. Whereas that heightened the drama of the viewing, it also made it difficult to walk quickly in the dark. (With any day trip, there is limited time to see everything so one must rush to make the most of the limited time.) This was one exceptionally well-organised day trip because Mark was such an experienced professional that he made sure everything worked for us, i.e. the bluetooth headsets, the time appropriations, etc. I highly recommend this tour with Mark who gave us good information throughout and made us feel both comfortable and well looked after.

Gemma was a fabulous tour guide! She provided us with lots of information on the bus to and from Montserrat and while we were there - she continued to share information about the history of Montserrat. She provided her talk in both English and Spanish in order to accommodate the audience. She has a great personality - she was caring and thoughtful. It was a great tour thanks to Gemma!

Booked through Viator but you can do it directly as well. Did Gaudi crypt/church in what may best be described as former “company town”. Didn’t know what to expect and it turned out great. Montserrat, of course, is spectacular. Guide, driver, bus and Bluetooth earpiece made this a wonderful experience at a reasonable price.
