I came across this basilica by chance. Although it doesn't carry the splendour of Sagrada Familia, it's a massive church that is free to visit, and worth spending a few minutes admiring.

There’s some beautiful architecture to see. It’s definitely worth a visit just to enjoy the workmanship

In the heart of the El Born district, it was a place for medieval knights fights (this fact, today draws the El Born square). In there, you could vist this big medieval church. It has been built in a pure Gothic style, with buttress in...More

Beautiful but busy, it's over 30 years since I was last here, but definitely worth the revisit. Much, much busier than it was 30 years ago!

I preferred this to the cathedral. It is less ornate, but still remains impressive. In other words: more substance and less "bling". Well worth a visit.

I arranged to meet my husband here because it looked central in the Born area and boy was I surprised at how impressive the church was! I came back and paid for the 8euro tour in English that took you up the towers and that...More

Europe is full of beautiful churches, and this is another one. It's no Sagrada Familia, but if you are in the hood, it's worth 15 minutes.

Amazing basilica located in the center of Barcelona. You have to pay to go in but you can also see it from the door. The architecture is very impressive. The basilica actually is bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Recommended

El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent
the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But
this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually
enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few
places that live and breathe such exciting energy
regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood
seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the
city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants

I went in July and there was no charge to go inside the church. It was €3 to go to the roof, but it was definitely worth it!

if you are having difficulty getting an answer from the church perhaps you could contact the diocese?
