Laurie was amazing in customizing our tour for us. He was personable and very friendly and gave us wonderful information about all the sights in Barcelona. We were not photographers, just interested in a great tour of Barcelona, and thoughly enjoyed everything he showed us. It was a full day tour but we were in and out of his car so we weren't so exhauseted by the time we got back to our hotel as we had been on other full day tours. He was able to help us get tickets for some of the attractions so that we did not have to wait on any lines. He went above and beyond, even making sure we had reservations for dinner. I would highly reccommend him as a tour guide, not just as a photgraphy tour guide.

The 6 hour photo workshop with Laurie proved to be the high point of my first visit to Barcelona! Laurie customized the tour based on my skill level and patently guided me through new ideas, new perspectives in taking my photography to the next level. Laurie would put forth a suggestion for a particular shot, explain the hows and allow me to give it a go with helpful critiquing along the way. Truly an effective way in learning new techniques in photography! In between takes, He would point out bits of history and color about the city which made this not only a photo workshop but a wonderful insider's tour as well! Post workshop, Laurie still extended his expertise in critiquing photos taken and still patiently replied to my other queries. I will definitely sign up for his might tour should I find myself in Barcelona again. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable time in barcelona!

I really enjoyed the 8-hour tour -- Laurie customized the tour to 8 hours to accommodate my enthusiasm. The weather was awful from common perspective -- it was cold and kept raining hard, but thanks to Laurie's patient instructions, I actually turned out appreciating the rain, which provided a unique opportunity to get some interesting wet images of this conventionally sunny city.
And I also learned a lot from Laurie, about choosing between zoom lens and wide-angle lens, about finding right elements to make images more interesting, about approaching the subjects from the right angle, about the patience it takes in setting up and waiting to get the right decisive moments, etc....
Highly recommended!

I was recommended this photo tour by a friend who had a 6 day photo workshop with Laurie. I had a 6 hour afternoon / night tour on my first day in Barcelona. This was a great way to improve my camera skills and see the city in more creative way. Highly recommended for photography enthusiasts!

I had such a great workshop with Laurie. He customize the workshop for individual and adjust to my interest and level for the 6 hours photo workshop in Barcelona. Laurie is very patient and showed me around the great location for photoshooting also a different way to look at things for photography. And I also learned a lot of hands on technical skills in this workshop, which is very rare but super important in some other workshop I attend. And Laurie is a very passionate and patient teacher and photographer. Thanks for the great experience!

Laurie managed to guide two photographers with very different skill levels (one pro, one brand new) and teach us each many things we could bring back home with us. In addition to being a talented photographer, instructor, and guide, Laurie is a passionate and interesting character. Thanks to him, I will forever see the entire world differently, not only when I look at it through a viewfinder.

I am quite interested in travel & street photography, so when coming to Barcelona for the first time, I decided to book a tour. Found Laurie via trip advisor & set up both a 6 hour day tour as well as a 3 hour night tour.
I did the day tour with a few other women whose interest and photography skills varied vastly. We had a great stroll through the city with Laurie hitting all of the landmarks and photogenic spots. He was great with technical advice and I feel like I walked away with some solid knowledge that I will take with me as I travel and shoot. We stopped at his favorite tapas bar for lunch & made our way all over the city. It was such a pleasure to meander the streets and ally ways with him paying no attention to a map. It was an amazing way to see the city!
I did the evening tour with my husband and another couple. It was phenomenal. I learned all about shooting with ambient light at slow shutter speeds. Laurie brought along 2 tripods & we were able to capture some killer night shots. We stopped at a very picturesque beautifully lit old square that looked right off a movie set and took some portraits there. Laurie was nice enough to shoot a few of my husband and me with my camera - they are great shots and a wonderful memory of our trip.
If you are interested in photography or just simply looking for a great way to see Barcelona that is far more interesting than a tour bus, this is the way to go!

Laurie turned our trip to Barcelona from a great by the book tour into an incredible learning experience and insiders view into the city. We spent two full days with him and wish we could have spent more.
His teaching style was extremely engaging - instruction and new techniques were tried in context at the most appropriate places around the city. He spent time before and at the beginning of the day to understand goals and preferences from both a learning and location perspective and introduced unexpected positive surprises on both fronts. The library of photography we returned with was much stronger as a result of our days with him.
We also spent a day outside the city with him in Montserrat and Sitges after having such a successful day in the city. He knew hidden gems and sights to capture (as well as history) which made the trip more spectacular than just a day tour.
While his instruction was superb, we found him also to be a great person to have coffee with, talk about the local culture, and absorb the real Barcelona. I would highly recommend spending time with him on your trip if you love photography, whatever stage you are at from a skills perspective. Those memories you bring home from the trip (and your portfolio) will be much stronger for it.

Laurie was right on time, easy to communicate with, and very interesting to talk to.
I'm a reasonably accomplished photographer, and Laurie quickly adjusted his style, helping me to visualize great pictures in the incredible places he took me, rather than explaining the basics of photography.
In a half-day, he took me to a number of great sites, and really helped me to get started in this new city. I now have an agenda for more than I can cover in the rest of my visit!
Bravo, Laurie!

I have been living in Spain for some years now just outside of Barcelona. I felt that a guide to the city would be a great way to get to know it seeing that i only normally commute back and forth between work and home. The tour was great and I also got some tips on photography and made a good friend in the tour guide. If you want a no nonsense date with the city this is well worth a go and time well spent. Historically informed on the places of interest around town and a knowledge of great clubs, bars and restaurants your guide Laurie Cohen, 5 stars all round for my vote...

Hi! I'm gonna be in Barcelona on Jun18-19. I'm an amateur in photography, but i'd love to have a small photo tour over the city. This is my first time in the city and it would be really great not to get into big crowds of tourists and to have a morning or evening tour - within the golden hour. Could you please advise if this is possible.. Thank you in advance!!!

#1-I don't know your business e-mail address; #2-We originally discussed a 6 hour (your terms) and that would leave us photographing in the dark at 9:00PM...any chance of going earlier in the day? and #3-I tried to ask this yesterday, it said I could only ask one question daily...why? Thanks! Harold Troy

I'm definitely interested. It looks like Sunday 1 May 2016 would be the best day for me. I am staying at the NH Barcelona Centro. Please let me know if that date is available and what the next steps are. Also could the guide give me a tentative schedule and recommendation for equipment to bring. Thanks! Harold Troy

We will arrive in Barcelona on Friday 29 April 2016 at the end of a re-positioning cruise. I would like to take a six hour private photo tour with Nico (based on what I've read in your reviews) on either Sat or Sun 30 April or 1 May 2016. I am an Architect and when I was in college I didn't have much use for Gaudi UNTIL I had the opportunity to experience La Sagrada Familia the last time I was in Barcelona and was "blown away" by the experience. Since that time I vowed that I would return and spend a day photographing the interior of the facility. To that end I would like to spend as much time doing just that (at lease four hours). Would that be possible and what would be the cost for such an opportunity? I anxiously await your reply. Thanks! HET

Dear Harold,
Thank you for your interest in Barcelona Photography Tours and for getting in contact.
Yes, we would be delighted to accommodate you. April is our busiest month, so booking ahead is recommended. Nicolas is currently available, as is Lorenzo - our architectural photographer. Both are talented photographers and exceptional guides.
The Sagrada Familia is one of the most amazing architectural structures in the world, and is definately worth exploring, though I think 3 hours would be sufficient for this one building. We can organize "skip the queue tickets" on request. It is recommended to visit in the afternoon to shoot the outside at the Passion Facade. The warm light hits it at the right angle. I would also recommend the optional ride up the lift to shoot down and capture the amazing details of the towers. Finally, towards the end of the tour (sunlight permitting), the sun entering through the stained glass is exceptional.
3 hours at this building would also allow time to visit the nearby Hospital de San Pau (built by Dominich I Muntaner), one of the most beautiful Modernist buildings in Spain. Barcelona has 9 World Heritage Sites (the most in Europe). As I am sure you are aware, 1 or 2 days is not enough to capture the city, however I would recommend shooting 3 sites in a 6 hour tour.
The price of our 6 hour itineraries is 300.00 Euros for a private tour. The cost does not include entrance fees for our guests or the guide. Itineraries can be customized to your shooting style, preferred subjects and skill level.
Please feel free to get in contact through our website for further information.
We look forward to hearing from you! Best wishes,
Laurie

Hi,
I would like to have more information about the course. My mom and sister are in Barcelona until 22/03 and I would like to give my sister a present and I believe that the photography tour is a good one.
How long does it takes? Do they need to walk too much? Because my mom has a bad knee and cannot walk long distances.
Also, I would like to know about the price.
Kind regards,
Cibele
