Neighbourhood: Barrio Gòtico (Barri Gòtic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The trendy El Borj barrios is my favorite district when we visited Barcelona deep in the Gothic Quarter. It has the perfect balance of being authentic and yet still very hip. Locals mingling with tourists. So much too see, do and of course food and drinks.

The Passeig del Born is a thoroughfare in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona which links the church of Santa Maria del Mar to the west and Born Market to the east. It's a tree lined and largely pedestrianised street with a very medieval feel due to the mostly cobbled stone and gothic fee. It also has a history that dates back to medieval times when it was used as a jousting field which is where the name of the street comes from.

Very atmospheric street with lots of trendy bars and cafes, and a happening nightlife.

Only visiting to know.
You do not need going anywhere to have all you need. It is not the cheapper place to eat or buy anything, but it is THE place!
My wife is thinking in living here forever. I think she is right and I am thinking I will stay with her forever!

Passeig del Born is one of those old Barcelona neighbourhoods that has been rejuvenated by tourists and hip/ trendy cafes. Unfortunately, just as awesome as it was to be able to get excellent craft beer and baked pasties at 3AM in the morning, I was also racially accosted in a dark alley and robbed of my phone. The pickpockets 'worked' at me for quite a bit, trying to strike up conversations or getting close to me to 'show' Bollywood dance. I was sleepy and drunk, but was able to get rid of them... for a while; they cornered me while I was walking towards a taxi stand and robbed me.

These things happen; was able to replace my cheapo phone soon enough. That said, does leave a sour taste in your mouth; sadly, all my memories of this place are now overshadowed by this experience.

We are currently staying on this street in an apartment. There are plenty of bars and restaurants and its nice to wander down. Close to the port and not too far from the beach. Its lovely to stay and worth a wander if you are close by but I don't think I'd recommend it if you were specifically coming here out of your way. The park at the end is also lovely.

Nowadays quite a trendy place to hang out in the evenings and at weekends on the many bar terraces - there are now quite a few new restaurants and gourmet burger bars popping up which makes you feel that you aren't really in one of the oldest parts of town.

Just a few metres from the Santa María del Mar church and the Barrio Gotico/Casco Antiguo the Paseo de Borne feels quite lively and modern, but at the same time it is very close to grimy little side-streets and pickpocket central, so do keep your wits about you.

The market building at the far end has recently been renovated inside while maintaining the old and architecturally beautiful exterior, so if you happen to be in the area, it is worth a quick visit to check it out too

Catalans place to have a great time! Warm and exciting neighbour! Take beer and sit somewhere with friends. Go to del Born pizza have sangria drink coctails! But please do not make noise! People live there!

And see the square next to St. MARIA for the sake of anarchists who defended that city!

P.S. you should definitely observe buildings and balconies. Balconies broaden up to down just for the right of sunlight!

Even with a map I couldn't find specific streets but it didn't matter. Wander through the alleys for lots of accessories, some leather goods, a few clothes designers, some giftware -- pretty good range of prices.

Irreverence must be one of the adjectives to be applied to Barcelona and, that is one of the things you'll find around the Passeig del Born!
A place worth visiting for at least an afternoon.
Don't forget to visit some local shops, some very vintage and taste an icecream in one of the many italian icecream shops!
