This was certainly different from what we were expecting, funky sculptures, nice place to sit down and have an icecream.

I expected more small alleys, authentic shops and buildings but this part of town is definitely not comparable with other areas in Barcelona. Won't be going back.

Yes, there are many man-made beaches in Barcelona. From what we were told, they were created for the past Summer Olympics. They are pretty and fun, but La Barceloneta is the only playa that is considered "natural". We loved walking on the beach in mid May of 2015. It was too cool to get in the water, but we enjoyed... This is the easternly portside neighborhood of Barcelona. It has a market square but is known more for its restaurant row across from the marina between the ocean and Ronda Del Littoral. The beach area is very popular, especially with locals and neighborhood dwellers. Vendors ply their wares along the promenade. There´s one area where sand castle artists do their... More

We sat next to the open kitchen which was a great experience. Casual, upscale place. Very clean! We probably ordered half the menu, mostly seafood though the meat looked great, incredible paella soup. Simple dishes outstanding taste. I will definitely be going back!

Cute little artsy area not far from the beach, of course had to get a photo with this adorable guy!! As any touristy area, be aware of your surroundings and pick pockets.

Not a very nice beach, very very crowded and Dirty! Get out of town for better beaches - try Sitges!

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
