I thought it would be a good idea to make my own souvenir from my trip to Barcelona, and I am glad that I booked this class with Livia! Livia is such a great tutor, very friendly and passionate about her art and Barcelona. Having lived there all her life, she was able to give me several recommendations that only... More

We had made enquiries to attend a classic Spanish Guitar recital, and were somewhat surprised to find that the venue was a magnificent Gothic Basilica, ( Santa Marta del Pi) situated just off Las Ramblas. As you would expect with such a monument, the accoustics were superb, and the solo performance was given by Xavier Coll, one of the Maestros,... More

We had the best time making mosaic art tiles with Livia! She was so sweet and patient as we learned this art technique. I would highly recommend this while in Barcelona!

Arty in the City organized a great Mosaic class with Livia for my two children (10 and 12) and me. Nicole at Arty was quick to respond with my questions and organized this activity for us on 1 days' notice. Livia was wonderful. She spoke to us in both English and Castillan (at our request) and the kids now have... More

Fun class with patient and lovely artist teacher. She was so warm and encouraging. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. A great way to have a couple of hours of sitting time and to feel a real connection to the art that Barcelona is known for.

Awesome mosiac class - Livia was a wonderful teacher. She was helpful with directions and other things to see and do in the city as well. l was bummed that Arty in the City wasn't able to let me take advantage of the flamenco dance class as a solo.

My 7-year old daughter had a wonderful time making a mosaic fish with Livia; later that night she said "I am going to make mosaics when I grow up"! And, while she worked, her father and I enjoyed exploring the Gracia neighborhood, where there are many cute cafes, bars, and restaurants.

I wanted to create something in this city rather than only just look and admire. This was a very personal and welcoming beginning mosaic class. Livia is very kind and generous with her time, materials, and knowledge. It takes awhile to actually finish even a small mosaic but we did it with Livia's help! She has beautiful work in the... I was struggling for something different to do in Barcelona with our daughter (6) after doing all the usual 'touristy stuff' last year. I stumbled upon Arty in the City, and I'm so glad I did. We spent 2 1/12 hours with an amazing lady called Livia, who has work that can be seen in many places including Sagrada Família... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
