Based on the very positive reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided to start our two days in Barcelona with the free walking tour. Fortunately for us, Brendan was our guide. Despite doing many things over the two days, this was my favorite. Brendan was so knowledgeable, energetic and enthusiastic about his adopted city of Barcelona that you couldn't help but come... Our walking tour was through the Gothic Qaurter of Barcelona and was not only very interesting but also a lot of fun. Richard was a great guide although he kept trying to trick me into thinking his name was Patrick! He had previously studied history and was obviously passionate about what he was telling us. We enjoyed the tour so... More

We attended the free walking tour of Old City. Although the group was very big, our guide Filipa (sorry if the spelling is wrong) managed us very well. She was experienced and really fun. We learnt a lot, we laughed a lot. Wish they had more options.

If you arrive to Barcelona and you want know a little bit about the history of the city, don't miss the free tour by Leon. You pay as you feel like. Leon had a lot of passion about talking about the history of Barcelona. Really he was the best guide in the NewEuropeCompany. I've done these tours in Berlin, Hamburg,... More

Super fun and chill. Ed was amazing. Great introduction to the city and would definitely recommend it to everyone. Ed - the paella and desserts at Barraca were amazing, thanks so much for the recommendation.

Leon was our tour guide. He had so much knowledge and his style of delivery was certainly interesting. He could easily have been a character in a Tim Burton movie. However, this just made the tour more fun. The tour took in lots of interesting places around the Gothic Quarter, Jewish Quarter, and La Ribera. Leon customised the route a... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
