About
MOSAICCOS offers classes for children (>3years), families, adults, youths & seniors. You can create your own souvenir in the mosaic style of Antonio Gaudi! In the "Experience Gaudi," you will learn the revolutionary technique of Gaudi, named “TRENCADIS”. We will show you the basics of this technique, the handling of the tools, and how to create your first masterpiece of trencadis-mosaic: a photo frame, or another object. The " Experiencia Gaudi" will be an unforgettable and unique reminder of Gaudi's Barcelona. The price depends on the object and length of the classes (1 hour: 28€, the standard time is 2 hours: 48€). You will work with ceramic. In case you would like to work with glass, you must pay an extra. Please take into consideration, that MOSAICCOS applies the grouting after you finished your work. If the workshop took place in the afternoon you can pick up your artwork next day, if it is earlier, the same day. Workshop schedules are on our website. Walk-ins are warmly welcome!

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.

This was such a great class! They explained the history of mosaic art and helped us create our own mosaic to bring home with us. It was relaxing and filled with conversation. They helped answer questions and gave us recommendations for other things to do in the area. The churros down the street were yummy! Would definitely recommend this!

The end result really looked like what I expected after 2hrs but I could've spent the whole day there had my budget allowed for it. The team is friendly and helpful so ask a lot of questions and communicate your struggles while crafting so they can guide you better. I highly recommend this to art lovers, those who enjoy crafting or just those that like more hands on activities because you don't need to have any skills, just patience and enthusiasm. It was a great activity between museums, one gets tired of walking!

It was super fun to do the mosaics and to replicate the technique pioneered by Gaudí. I gifted the experience to my partner, and we were delighted.

The service was awful. When we arrived, rather than bring greeted, we were asked how many days would we be here. Which was irrelevant to the activity and also a personal question to ask. When I asked why they asked me that, they said it would take 4 days for them to return the artwork to me. We were not offered nor received the free square that was included. We asked for the tea, coffee, and water that was included in the package; there was only water if you asked for it. It was strange that the artwork would take 5 days, yet it plainly states that it would be done at the end of the day. After everything was finished, they finally told me that I could come pick it up in a few hours.

Dear Giovanna! it was a surprise for us to see the ranking of the feedback; normally people wrote the feedback about the experience to create a mosaic in Gaudi's technique trencadís. In your case we only asked you, how long you are in Barcelona because we ask all our clients, it's just a question of logistics not asking about their private lives, because we have to plan the grouting. There was no mention of your mosaics being ready after 5 days, that was clearly a misunderstanding. Also in VIATOR we pointed out that the mosaics could be collected either the same day or the next day, this depends on the schedule of the workshop. In relation to the little squares (magnets) we only offer these pieces when people finish their artworks earlier, it means before the two hours; in your case, you finished your mosaic pieces in more than 2 hours. that was the time that you have been booked. In relation to coffee and water, at that moment we could offer you just water which was handled to you in a good manner. I think we did a good job, always with a good manner and guiding the people to the workshop, helping and recommending how to work, as always we did. All the best regards from Barcelona.

Really good activity and class, the result is amazing and the teacher is very nice. I enjoyed the two hour activity, time seems to past really fast but is fun. They gave us the final project at the next day, very punctual.

We created our own mosaic pieces. They had all the tools needed and provide basic instruction, and did the grouting for us after we were done. It was fun to put them together.

There are two reasons I took off one star off from the review: most important, the instructor was sneezing and coughing during our session and not wearing a mask. This was alarming since we were indoors, and did not feel safe with Covid levels on the rise right now.

The second and less important is that some of the tiles we were using were low quality -- some of the ones with what appeared to be a painted pattern were actually just a white tile with a sticker that came off fairly easily once you broke the tile. That was a bummer to discover.

I did a different mosaic workshop in Gracia (outside of central Barcelona) earlier in the month which was in a more beautiful space and provided a great deal more artistic instruction.

Thank you for your detailed review. Regarding the wearing of masks, it is currently not compulsory by law to wear a mask but in the future I will advise my staff to wear a mask if they have a cold. Regarding the "low quality" tiles, they are recycled material, but it is usually very rare for the pattern to come off. Thank you very much for coming, best regards.

Was a great way to spend time as a fmaily making unique and memorable souvenirs - we booked 2 hours and it was just enough for our girls - they tailor what you make based on how much time you have - by far our favorite souvenirs from our Spain trip came from this!

Most welcoming and accommodating staff run this workshop. We were delayed during transit but the staff were happy to let us start late and gave us as much time as we needed to complete our mosaic tiles. They were able to explain in excellent English how to master the technique and helped us with any intricate parts. They then took the tiles to grout them and let us call back later in the afternoon to collect our completed work. We really enjoyed this and came home with fabulous souvenirs of our time in Barcelona! Gracias xx

We took the one-hour class for children and parents and really enjoyed the experience. The team at Mosaiccos was friendly and helpful. We laughed with them throughout the class and had great fun making mosaic-topped boxes and a mirror. Our kids, both 5 years old, were so excited that they made multiple items. We learned about Gaudi's techniques and finished with some nice items to bring home that captured a bit of the Gaudi style.
