About
The Montjuïc Cable Car has been the most special way to discover the charms of Barcelona for many years. Its 750 meters of route allow you to enjoy unparalleled views, culminating your journey in the Montjüic Castle, on the top of a mountain that represents the living history of the city. If you are looking for a cable car in Barcelona, the Telefèric opens its doors every day from 10:00 in the morning until sunset, depending on the season. You will enjoy the most emblematic symbols of Barcelona as never before, such as the Sagrada Familia, the Camp Nou or the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc. You will have Barcelona at your feet! Hygiene and safety measures: We control the user capacity in the facilities. We reinforce the hygiene and disinfection measures in the cabins and in the rest of the installations to guarantee your safety. We provide you with hand disinfection points.

- jhbh1961Winnipeg, Canada117 contributionsOnly Bother if Mobility-ImpairedWe hiked up and all around the fortress at the top. Good views from the trail at the base of the fortress. Nice picnic area among shady pines nearby. We wished we had saved our money and walked back down. The walk is neither long nor difficult for able-bodied people and next time I would save my money.Thank you very much for commenting on your experience at the Telefèric de Montjuïc. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your trip to the castle. We recommend that all visitors consult our website for information on the main points of interest that can be enjoyed on Montjuïc hill. From each of the 3 stations you can visit the main cultural interests of Montjuïc hill such as the Fundació Miró, the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, the Poble Espanyol or the Museu Etnològic. You can also visit the Mossèn Costa i Llobera Gardens, one of the most important in Europe. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to be able to provide you with a better service in the near future. Best regards. - Keith T46 contributionsAmazing views over the cityThe cable car is a must if you wish to see Barcelona from above. When you get off the cable car there is a cafe/restaurant called Salts. Their terrace provides amazing views over the city and is a great place to take photos. It also over looks the olympic swimming & diving pools. You can grab a beer and food. The castle at the top is impressive and if you walk behind the castle there are steps down to the main road where you can walk to the harbour and beach.Thank you for your feedback! - cataloni vKuwait City, Kuwait26 contributionsNice tripPretty telefrique with two stops. The castle stop was breath taking with amazing views. It is not stroller friendly due to the stones at the top which makes the ride tough. Also could’ve been more convenient if there was a cafe near the castle. A picture with the flag of Catalonia was the highlight.Thank you for your time to share your experience with us. - BamBamDoncaster, United Kingdom512 contributionsWell worth the trip!Absolutely loved this cable car journey. The views are out of this world. €16 adult ticket to go up to the castle and back down. Had a walk around the top and then travelled back down. Only wish, is that there could be a cafe up at the top. Or at least benches/seating. Would be wonderful to sit with a coffee and enjoy the views and the weather.Thank you for your time to share your experience with us. - JomaLeeds, United Kingdom99 contributionsDefinitely something to do whilst in Barcelona. The cable cars provide an amazing view of Barcelona and there are several stop off points for you to get out and explore the park. This is good value for money compared to many of the tourist attractions in Barcelona. If you buy one of the travel cards for the metro this will allow you access to the line which takes you right to Parc de Montjuic. If you try and walk from Paral-let it’s a very hilly walk with loads of steps so beware!!Thank you for your time to share your experience with us. - TravelKat21Bel Air, Maryland302 contributionsSmooth rideIt was nice to be able to purchase tickets up to 90 days in advance. There are no timed tickets. It was very busy at noon on a weekday. It took 40 minutes from the time we entered the line until the top. The line does move quickly and the website says they move 2000 people per hour. The ride was very smooth and relaxing. Cool views from all angles. We did not stop at the middle stop. There were no lines at the top or the middle stop to get back down.Thank you for your time to share your experience with us. - Phyllis TCuenca, Ecuador99 contributionsEnjoy the ride up, consider the outer walk vs the castle. The cable car was very comfortable, the view of the city were amazing. On the way down we stopped at the miredor and then walked the remaining way through the park. The Castell de Montjuic at the top was an additional fee that I didn’t feel was worth the expense. However there’s a nice walk for free around the perimeter of the outer walls providing wonderful views of the city and harbor area.Thank you for your time to share your experience with us. - Mayesie (A Gluten Free Traveller!)333 contributionsGreat view but at a priceThe views, as others have said, are great. The ride is smooth & the queues move quickly. The journey is too quick & the area is not a ‘must see’ if you have a list of things you’d like to do. It’s expensive for what it is and sadly we were a little disappointed with it.At cable car, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every traveler; therefore, your feedback is very important to us. - J EFredericksburg, Virginia11,517 contributionsNice ViewsWe took an Uber all the way up here thinking this was the long cable car system that went to the port, but this is just for going from the road up the hill to the castle. It offers nice views and gave us the chance to see the outside of the castle and much of the city scape from way above. It's priced reasonably and the wait wasn’t long to get in, pay and then get on the cable car.Thank you for your time to share your experience with us.Written 4 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 May 2024

I am not a lover of cable cars but my husband wanted to go, so I gritted my teeth, pulled on my big girl pants and booked tickets. Using a code from the Touristic Bus, we also received a further 10% discount.
It was a beautiful morning and not busy. The staff don’t cram people into the gondolas so there were just the two of us.
The car was very stable and gave us great views across the city and the sea.
We booked a round trip ticket and got off at the castle at the top to take more photos of the views.
Great trip, helpful staff and it all felt very safe.

Ok first thing. do not try to walk to the cable car... We did not realise what a trek it would be and we met quite a few others doing the same.
Instead, take the metro to Para-lel where you can get the Montjuic funicular 'train' which takes you directly to the base of the cable car. The ticket for this train is included in the zone 1 casual ticket for the metro which was great value at €7.95 for 10 journeys!
Anyway, This is a quirky train in itself.
The ticket for the telerific was roughly €14 for the return trip and there are 2 stops - the castle at the top and an interim one at Mirador on the way back down.
The views from both stops is fabulous and there is a gorgeous park at Mirador just across the street from the cable car stop with interesting patterns on the ground made with mechanical parts, stepping stones.. and a lovely view.
The castle at the top. also had fab views and was nice to walk around but we didn't bother paying a entrance fee to visit inside as we weren't that interested.
I have to admit that I really quite enjoyed this relaxing experience, the views over the city were great trying to pinpoint the landmarks across the city and the cruise ships in port on the other side. If you have lots of time you could spend quite a while around here. Across the street from the main entrance is the municipal swimming pool which is currently undergoing work but there is a cafe open there which again offers amazing views across the city.

I visited this adventurous cable car on a windy rainy day in November. End of year, it closes by 6.00 pm, I reached at 5.45pm so only had a chance to enjoy it One-way to the castle and use bus on way down. Still I would repeat it next time I visit Barcelona as it was quite memorable.
To reach the bottom station "Parc de Montjuïc", you can use the furnicular (Funicular de Montjuïc) from Parallel which is a great ride in itself. I had Hola Barcelona card during my visit and the furnicular is free with the card. Tickets for the cable car are quite reasonable for a 10-12 minute ascent. The whole journey over heavenly city of Barcelona is worth every second of beauty. Once at the top, the view from the castle if mesmerizing, a snapshot of mind to remember forever.
As I couldn't get hold of a return ticket and it was quite cold to wait for the cab. I accompanied other late visitors with me to the nearby bus stop. Late evening with breeze and drizzle, waiting at the stop with strangers in low light was just like a movie. I had to wait 20 minutes for the bus which took me to Placa d'Espanya.
Teleferic De Montjuic is an experience which cannot be interpreted properly on a text review or even pictures. I something to definitely go for during every visit to Barcelona.

Have you ever been a moving cable car a hundred meters up in the air that is stopped abruptly? Not just once, but THREE TIMES? Well let me tell you, it's not fun — it’s a nightmare come to life. It swings its passengers back and forth high in the air in a nauseating manner until it finally comes to a stop.
That's what happened to me and my partner as we rode down from Montjuic. Over a period of ten minutes, the cable car was stopped, reversed for a few hundred meters, was stopped for the second time, moved forward for the second time, was stopped for the third time, and then finally moved forward for the third time.
Over these ten minutes, no announcement was made about what was happening. My partner and I were both terrified and tried calling Teleferic de Montjuic over the phone. We could only get through to a voicemail.
When we finally got down to the platform, we asked the operator what happened. He said a couple guys had hopped onto a cable car without paying, and so the operator pulled their car back to the platform.
So apparently, two non-paying customers means that hundreds of paying customers had to endure this nightmare. There was no apology, and no refund of our expensive €14 tickets.

Great veiws from this lovely cable car ride and not to be confused with the other from the port area where you stand up. This ride makes it's way up to the top of the hill where the castle is with panoramic views of the city and mountains beyond. Yes it is a short ride but you can also get off and back on half way up. In my opinion well worth a visit.

This is the cable car that you catch from Avinguda Miramar (stop for the open top tourist busses) and takes you up to Montjuic castle. The ride is in 4 person cars that have large panoramic windows and come every 30 seconds.
There’s invariably a queue but it moves fast and I think we waited for 5 minutes before getting to the ticket booth. You can book online and get 10% off a return ticket but it won’t get you on any quicker as the automatic gates are turned off at the bottom and you have to queue up with everyone else to show your ticket anyway.
The pricing is a complete rip off at 10.5 Euros for a single fare or 16 euros for a return ticket and there are no concessions, but at least you are afforded excellent views on the way up and the walk all round the castle then provides further excellent views over Barcelona and the new Marina developments as well as Barcelona’s container port (where they dock the cruise ships) and it’s only from up here that you get a true perspective for how massive a container port Barcelona is.
We didn’t bother going in the castle as our primary objective was the views and to walk the peak. In this respect I would recommend that when you get to the far West Point of the castle walk down to the Mirador del Migdia and here you will find La Caseta del Migdia, one of the few bar /cafes on the peak.

Taking the cable car is the most convenient way to reach the Montjuic hill if you don't have a car.
However, likewise many other attractions in Barcelona it comes with a hefty price.
Ride takes around 10 min and you have great city views from your cabin.
If you have your rented car, you can drive up, park on several free parking lots and enjoy the same views from top for free.

Truly enjoyed the candle carts and due to Barcelona transport system it was so easy to get to the cable carts buying tickets on the hola Barcelona website is cheaper.
Waited in the line for 6 mins as the cable carts come consistently, depending how busy you can get the carts to yourself or have to share but it’s quite specious so you never feel cramped.
The views are wonderful both going up and coming back down a must do when in Barcelona.

I was only in Barcelona for a day and a half and did a bus tour.
One of the stops was Montjuïc and the view that I saw for a few seconds was amazing and I had to go back to see it properly. I saw the Montjuïc Cable Car and thought it was a no brainer so bought a ticket online and got on the L3 Metro, got off at Paral-El and took the funicular to the Cable car station.
There was a queue at 5:30pm and buying a ticket online before didn’t allow me to queue jump, although it was cheaper.
As an amateur photographer, I was really excited for this and the views on the cable car itself were amazing, I was looking forward to having some views at the top to stare at, take photos and simply enjoy.
When we got to the top, the views were blocked by trees; ok I thought, there must be a better view point somewhere. I walked around the Castle and got a great view of the port, not very exciting. I then walked down the path, along a bit, down a bit but there was no view point. There were just a few gaps in trees. I considered going into the castle but it was further expense and I got the cable car back down disappointed.
If you like castles, ports and the excitement of cable cars, feel free to do this. If you want the view, take the bus tour and get off at the Montjuïc stop, you won’t regret it.

This tourist attraction is a little bit of a let down. In my opinion it is overpriced and not something you should rush to do when visiting Barcelona. Yes the views are spectacular and the experience of riding a cable car is fun but 60€ for a family of four is too much. If you really want to ride the cable car I suggest you pay for a one way ticket ride up the mountain, enjoy the views on the way up and from the castle then walk back down the hill. Once you get to the top if you want to see around the castle you will have to pay more money! Annoyingly there are no bathroom facilities anywhere. The bathroom facilities in the castle are only for paying customers.
There are much better attractions in Barcelona to spend your money on.

Do you have to get off at the stops or is it possible to do a round trip without getting off?
Thanks in advance.

Hello.
Cable Car runs on a continuous loop. Our destination was the Castle, so we got off.
Not sure whether you can stay on and just return to the originating Station. There is no intermediate Stop. Only Start & Finish ones.
But if you do have to alight, you can just walk around to the entrance, have your ticket checked. And away you go on your return trip.
Enjoy.

Hello. Barcelona card(not hola) includes -2€ at montjuic teleferic. Is it possible to buy online the tickets with the reduction in advance or I have to purchase them at the ticket office only? Also, on March are there long queues?

How do you get there from the tourist attractions in the centre of Barcelona?. Only visiting for 1 day

How do you get to the cable car station from the centre of Barcelona (main tourist attractions) as only in Barcelona for 1 day (cruise excursion)
Written 2 July 2019
A lot depends on where your ship is moored. Assuming it is somewhere in the Port near the Christopher Columbus statue near the bottom of La Rambla, (or you can get a blue Cruise Shuttle Bus to the statue) I would walk from the Port up Av del Paral-lel to the Paral-lel Metro station (about 5-10minutes), where you can get on the Montjuic Funicular railway, which will take you up to the bottom cable car station. If you have a Barcelona travel card (or one of the other multi- use transport cards) you can use it on the funicular but not the cable car. I recommend booking the cable car in advance as it might be busy and you won’t want to walk up to the castle or stand in a queue on a hot day! Great views from the castle out to sea and over the city. If you are not setting off from the port, use the Metro or a bus to Paral-lel Metro (Lines L2 or L3)

Is the Teleferic included in the Hola Barcelona pass? It says the Funicular is, but what about the cable car?

Profco,
The Hola Pass does not include the Teleferic de Montjuic. I believe it is considered a tourist attraction, as opposed to public transportation, considering the city bus line (TMB) stops at the top and they do take the Hola Pass. Because the Hola pass allows multiple uses for days valid, plan your visits and select the routes that work best.
Happy travels,
