The area
Neighbourhood: Poblenou
The futuristic Agbar Tower stands out from Barcelona's skyline in Poblenou. It is no coincidence then that this area of town is the newly crowned technological park of the city, its own mini Silicon Valley containing a tech incubator (Barcelona Activa) as well as a host of local and international high tech companies. To accommodate the onrush of new residents and workers, the area of Poblenou has seen a surge of activity in new high-rise residential buildings and two top-notch shopping centres catering to everyone's need. The ambiance of this area is calmer than the city center and the beautifully relaxing Bogatell Beach, popular with locals, is just a handful of blocks away.
How to get there
  • Llacuna • 6 min walk
  • Poblenou • 6 min walk

The Green room ( Irish Bar) on La rambla , Poblenou was from the start interesting. We politely asked for the table to be cleaned , they weren’t happy! Then got the drinks Order wrong, even though it was written down!! . The meal was just about edible, service was a little too be desired. They couldn’t wait to get rid of us because people were waiting for our table & I speak a little Spanish & the staff were talking about us. Disappointed.

Great place to visit for food and drink. Tables are situated along the centre of the road. There are hardly any cars so it is a safe walk for pedestrians.
This road is much nicer than La Rambla in the centre of town with less tourists and more locals.
Nearest metro is Poblenou on line 4.
We had lunch and dinner at restaurants along this rambla and they were superb.
The rambla leads down to the beach, one of which is Platja de la Mar Bella which is a clothing optional beach.

The Rambla del Poblenou is the main thoroughfare through the El Poblenou district of Barcelona. The Rambla de Poblenou is a leafy street that runs from Avinguda Diagonal and all the way to the beach. As El Poblenou lies between the great beaches of to the east of Barcelona and city centre, it’s a mix of chilling at the beach, but still close enough to the that there’s a plenty of shopping, bars and restaurants while not quite as busy as say the Rambla in the city centre.

There's fewer tourist here than it's more famous sister and feels more authentic.

we stayed at Hesparia del Mar for a week so this was our 'hood. Rambla del Poblenou fabulous for people watching but we found the side streets and alleyways better for cheap eats/authentic food. but the difficulty there of course, is trying to get them added to Trip Advisor. Ive two pending but getting adequate details difficult - although they can readily be found on google! I digress however, this is a classic stroll - we tended to walk a km or so to midway (from the beach end) then meander back and just stop for a vino when close to the beach end. Then cross to the beach (a main road between but a direct overpass) then amble back to our hotel with the beach views...would recommend staying in area rather than just visiting. The Poblenou train station is on a direct line to the classic tourist centre around the gothic quarter and La Rambla with only around 5-6 stops which equates to roughly 10-12 minutes and trains frequent.

The Rambla del Poblenou is a restaurant & shop lined avenue near the Glories area of Barcelona. It ends at the beach and runs from the beach up to Avenue Diagonal. We stayed nearby at the IBIS hotel de Glories 22, only a three block walk from the Rambla. Each of the four nights we ventured to the Rambla for dinner we were delighted to find tables in the streets with willing wait-staff and excellent food and beverages to taste. Although we visited dozens of sites in Barcelona, we felt most at home and relaxed along the Rambla del Poblenou.

If you want to be away from the touristy side of Barcelona, and enjoy the local life (food and drinks wise), this is a good place to start! Ideal time 6pm-1am

Smaller and more intimate than the famous 'La Rambla', this is a much more enjoyable street. Lots of little shops and bars to eat drink and (window-)shop.
Our favourite was Bar Nuria at #34 that I can't find here on Tripadvisor. The bacalau croquetas are to die for!
When travelling north-west, when you get to Carrer del Perú go one block south-west, then continue on Carrer de la Llacuna and Carrer de Rogent for another lovely pedestrianised shopping street.

Our hotel was the Sheraton Four Points so when we headed to the beach this was the immediate route.
It’s a very civilised, relaxed tree lined avenue with a wide variety of Bars, Tapas and restaurants.

It’s noticeable that it’s frequented by Barcelona’s residents as well as tourists like ourselves - a good sign. For those who might be put off by Barcelona’s petty crime reputation ( whether justified or not) come to this area, it’s an absolute joy. You feel safe day or night and after a few drinks and a meal you can sit and watch and relax. Highly recommended

My wife and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in the Poblenou district and it's almost impossible to get anywhere without walking through the Rambla del Poblenou.

It's like a little sister to Las Ramblas in the city centre and far less touristy as a result.

In fact, it was great to still have this pretty street so near to our hotel without all the tourists crammed into Las Ramblas.

There are an assortment of shops and restaurants, many of which we ate at or spent money in during our stay.

Easily reachable by public transport, it's worth taking a metro ride out of the city and seeing what this street has to offer - and wandering down to the beach while you're here.

Recommended and likely to return.

Nice walk, cultural and variety of restaurants, leads to the beach, but can get crowded, has a slight stench at times
