This location is the first point on the Camino pilgrimage walk (which is typically at least 500 km long) when pilgrims first see their final destination of Santiago de Compostela. Hence the name - Hill of Joy! It is quite busy, with a constant stream...More

This is one of the highlights of the end of the Camino and it looks quite ugly, with the top imitating a rather bad version of modern sculpture. There is a tremendous view, however

It’s worth a drive out if you have time to spare and the weather is kind to you. Don’t miss the statues of the two pilgrims pointing towards the cathedral.

The park is large and rambling, and not so well maintained, but it is worth walking through the grove of trees and then up a hill to the large pilgrims monument (two large scale bronze figures of pilgrims). From here you can really see the...More

It is a symbolic and very important place for the Camino de Santiago. The monument, statues, park, hostel...all was oversized and now paying the price for it. Anyhow, on your way to the tomb of Saint Jacob - leave some time to stop at the...More

You pass this on the walk from Pedrouzo into Santiago on the Camino. It was lovely to see it. We took a few photos and there is a lovely view of the City from there.
