5 Days Camino De Santiago Sarria to Santiago
While hillier than expected and not an easy hike, it is beautiful and worth the effort. The Spanish people are amazing, food along the way delicious and the inns are locally owned and run. We used the company Walks In Spain to structure our time and it was well worth it. They helped set up the certificate, the inns along the way and provided luggage support where we left our luggage at the inn lobby each day and it met us at our next stop so we could travel light and easy. Walks In Spain also provided a map and a highlight sheet so we did not miss key sites, stops and food along the way each day. As they say, each person has their own reason for being on the Camino. No matter what the reason is, the solitude, beauty and sense of accomplishment when complete make it a unique experience well worth the effort.

Walks in Spain with Paul - Camino Frances
I’ve recently returned from a Best of Camino Frances Small Group tour with Walks in Spain with Paul. Working with this small father/son owned company, from my first day email requesting information to our final Farewell Dinner, has been one of my best travel experiences. Paul Sr. and Paul Jr. provided such attention to detail in arranging lovely accommodations, delicious regional meals, transporting of bags, easy to follow maps and directions. They gave the perfect amount of guidance and independence to our group. My friend and I have come home with new friends and we are all sharing photos of our week together. You will not regret contacting Walks in Spain with Paul and choosing this company for your Camino. I’m ready to sign up with them for another Camino route.

Walks in Spain - our Guardian Angel on the Camino
As a first time walker on this amazing journey of the Camino de Santiago, Paul from Walks in Spain was an incredibly useful virtual guide between making all our arrangements, prepping us for what to expect and our daily personalized instructions and tips. His attention to detail is second to none and the accommodations he chose for us were top notch. I would highly recommend this father and son team.

    Buen Camino
Walks in Spain handled our logistics and Paul & Paul set us up with great hotels along the way each was very clean and comfortable. A first rate experience. Walks in Spain also handles our baggage transfers and our bags were alway waiting when we arrived at the next stop. The restaurants that Paul selected for our dinners were all great, friendly local places with good food and service. Walks in Spain is a family owned business that provides great services for Pilgrims on the Camino and we highly recommend them. The Camino itself is a moving experience where everyone gets something different on the journey. It was a bit more tiring than we planned but we made it thanks in part to the great guides that Paul and Walks in Spain provided us. We will be repeat pilgrims with Paul & Paul at Walks in Spain.

    Walks in Spain
If you are considering doing the El Camino, I would highly recommend Walks in Spain. I found the entire experience stress free. Paul was very responsive with all communications and questions leading up to the walk. Our accommodations were above average. They were impeccably clean, and comfortable. The host of each establishment was friendly and gracious. They served up delicious dinners, and hearty breakfasts. The information guide packet provided us with all the information we needed to prepare for each day’s walk. #WalksInSpain

The best way to see the Camino if you want to do it in relative comfort!
If you want to experience the Camino but aren't sure about doing the 'whole experience' eg staying in hostels then I would highly recommend Walks in Spain run by father & son (Paul snr & Paul jnr) I joined a small group tour but they will also put together self-guided walks & arrange the accommodation etc. The small group tour was excellent in every way. As the Pauls own the company & run it themselves, they are always on hand to make sure everything runs smoothly - in the tour case, they drive the minbuses. So you always get a personalised service. The accommodation provided was of excellent quality & loads of meals were also included. That's not tos ay that he walking isn't challenging at times. The Camino can be quite hilly in places but ity is so worth it for that last morning standing on the hill looking down over Santiago & then walking into the city itself. If you are holding back because of worries about fitness - don't! If you are on the small group tour, the Pauls are always happy to let you be driven in the minibus for all or part of the stage. I enjoyed my time on the Camino with the Pauls so muchh that I have been recommending them to all my friends!!

The Best of the Camino with the best guides!!
After 2 previous (and wonderful) Caminos with Paul and Paul of Walks In Spain, this one - Camino Portugues - was even better! They help create such warm camaraderie within the group, the lodgings and food are terrific, the routes well-chosen...well, I cannot recommend them highly enough, and am eagerly awaiting my next Camino with Walks In Spain. Just do it!

The best way to do the Camino!
I am usually a very independent traveler but when I started considering doing the Camino, I felt like I needed a pro who knew all of the ins and outs to make a successful once in a lifetime trip possible. I found Paul Senior and Paul Junior, who own Walks in Spain, and they were unbelievable in every way. Every detail was covered and they took care of all the logistics so all we had to do was just enjoy the beautiful walk. I can’t recommend them highly enough and they are just wonderful people.! Don’t miss out!!
This will be one of my most memorable walks. Started from Leon on a 39 degree day and never looked back. As the walk progresses you get to see and experience beautiful villages and people. It’s not for the non experienced walkers. There are very few rest stops along the way until Sierra. The walk get very commercial and much easier from sierra to Santiago de Compostela. A MUST DO!

Camino experience with Walks in Spain
We were a group of 12 from Singapore and Australia who went on the Camino pilgrimage from Saria to Compostela de Santiago in October 2023. Everything was arranged perfectly by Walks in Spain. Our contact was Paul. But we never got to meet him personally because all the logistics went like clockwork, so smoothly and seamlessly in the background that we were able to focus on our walk and prayers! Our luggage was picked up from our hotels every day and delivered to the next without a hitch. The hotels selected and booked by Paul were excellent! We just arrived and were given our rooms immediately! Hassle free, beautiful walk, wonderful accommodations, enjoyable time with friends, excellent food, a truly blessed trip, thanks to Paul from Walks in Spain! Good job, Paul!

Just finished our Camino that Paul planned for us. He set up a "custom" itinerary for us based on our desire to walk only 10-11 miles per day instead of the "usual" 15 or 16 miles. Then, mid-way through our Camino, we decided that we needed a rest day so Paul re-arranged all our reservations to accommodate that. He was available by text message throughout and helped us get on to the right train in Madrid and to reschedule our COVID tests at the end of the trip. Having a reservation each night meant that we could walk at our own pace instead of hurrying to get in to town to find an empty bed. Can definitely recommend Walks in Spain.

Santiago de Compostela is one of Christendom’s 3 principal pilgrimages. And only one of two pilgrimage routes on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Follow in the footsteps of millions of pilgrims that have walked the numerous routes that crisscross Europe since the 10th century. Destination: the tomb of Saint Iago (Saint James the Apostle), the patron saint of Spain. It’s a life-changing experience, and that’s why many people are drawn back to the Camino again and again. I recommend Fresco Tours, who offers full-service ‘kinder’ tours that cover less ground daily, but still complete the distance required to receive the Compostela. I was one of 914 pilgrims that arrived at Santiago de Compostela on Oct 7, 2021.

For anyone wishing to trek the Camino, I can't imagine a more accommodating and efficient enabler than Paul (and Paul) at Walks in Spain. From meeting our km/day limitations to finding the most culturally interesting places to stay to having our luggage pre-arrive us at each day's destination, I can't imagine a more responsive and personally invested travel service. There were a few problems, but none were Paul's fault, and he went out of his way to quickly solve the problems and get us on our way. We will always think of Paul as our "Camino Angel"!

This service does NOT transport your bags from Sarria to Santiago. He gets them to Palas de Rei, and then contracts with someone else who takes them from that point. Beyond that, he’s not responsible, he says. So imagine our disappointment when we arrived to Santiago to find that our bags weren’t at our accommodation, but were at some bar, the address of which he didn’t send us. We were unable to locate a bar by the name he provided so tried a pension with that name. We arrived at the address we found on Google and then was nothing there. By this time, we were frantic and reached out again. Finally he sent an address. Then we had the great pleasure of walking uphill for 15 minutes, climbing dozens of stairs with our luggage in tow. We asked them to send a cab for our bags; they refused and said they were “sorry”. The good job they had done up to that point was completely undone by their failure to coordinate their delivery with our host. Camilo assured me over and over again prior to our arrival that everything would be “fine”. In the end, it wasn’t.

Years ago we walked the Danish part of the Camino (called Härvejen - approx. 300 km) twice. A great trek through the most beautiful parts of Jutland.

This year we came to Santiago de Compostela by car - and just walked the last kilometer of the Camino before the cathedral. We wanted to see the famous shells in the pavement and feel a little of the vibe walking into the legendary old city.

Well, the shells and the vibe fully met our expectations … we find the cathedral with all the gold and silver vulgar; in our opinion the church of St. Jacob should be much more humble.

But no doubt that we’ll walk more of the Camino here in Spain another time.

Paul from Walks in Spain arranged our Portugal coast Camino - it was simply amazing! Five of us walked together and Paul’s organisation of the self guided Camino was sensational. Best of all were the incredible hotel facilities and ambiance at the end of each day!

I had Paul at Walks in Spain organize a self-guided Camino tour for myself, my two grown daughters, my brother and sister-in -law from Sarria to Santiago. We had the trip of a lifetime due to Paul's expertise and planning! Every day was mapped out for us, every detail covered. We walked 100 kilometers and felt well informed and prepared every day. Our lodgings were delightful, my favorites included a restored farm home, a villa and a country manor. Our meals were delicious and reflected local cuisine. He helped guide us when we arrived in Santiago and we picked up our Compostela without any issues. Walks in Spain is a family run business and his attention to detail and responsiveness are unparalleled and the Galicia countryside is magical. Buen Camino!

Just finished walking the Camino Frances everything was organised by Galiwonders on our behalf. Walking during the pandemic obviously created some problems with accommodation closing at short notice. Thankfully Galiwonders were keeping an eye on things and kept us informed and arranged alternative accommodation as necessary. I think they did a really good job and would have no hesitation in recommending them. Price, quality and level of service were very good. Well done to the Galiwonders team. Thanks from me and the other half.
