Chueca is a lively area at night with plenty of bars. As I read, it is a gay area of Madrid. During the day interesting narrow streets with high buildings with little sun ever reaching the street level except when directly overhead.

This area of Madrid is like Soho in London. It is a bit edgy with a mix of restaurants, bars, shops and boutiques.
