This imposing building dominates the area around Plaza De Espana, being a huge tower block. Currently it is completely covered in scaffolding and under renovation, displaying a huge sign “RIU”, a Spanish hotel chain.

I love this building as it is straight out of the Dystopian future however it is completely covered in scaffolding at the moment.

Edificio Espana is a beautiful building that easily dominates the area around Plaza De Espana. Built by 1953 this superb building was once the tallest in Spain but is now only the eighth tallest in Madrid nowadays. Designed by Julian Otamendi in the neo baroque...More

Located near the Plaza Espana and Temple de Debod. This is a tall neo-baroque style building due to be converted into a hotel in the near future. Built in the early 1950s it was seen as a 'symbol of prosperity' in Franco's Spain.

Edificio Espana is oddly impressive for what is basically a large tower block overlooking the Plaza de Espana. Seems to have art deco elements included during that period. Considered an iconic landmark building.

This building is one of the iconic buildings in Madrid, Plaza España. It is a huge skyscraper, not the tallest one, not the biggest one in Europe. But when it was built, it was big. It is an important and historic building of Madrid and...More

This building is just about as out of place as the nearby Temple De Debod. It reminds me of a very old skyscraper such as you may see in Manhatten and to me is a very beautiful piece of architecture.

Just in front of Plaza de España, this huge building stands for a Madrid's landmark. But honestly, I did not understand why... It is just a very tall large building. Maybe there is a lot of history behind it... I do not know.

This building is very much out of place but I find it looks great in photos and it reminds me of the grand early 20th century buildings in New York. It is the second best thing in the rather disappointing Plaza de Espana - after...More

This is a truly iconic building in Madrid, but we personally found it totally ugly and too imposing on the nearby square.
