We had a great time with Jose, who showed us the street art in Malasaña in Madrid, informed us about the types of street arts (educating part :) ) and surprised us at the end of the tour... definitely one of the best experiences in...More
We went on a bike tour and saw a lot of street art. I especially liked the tiny neighbourhood gardens with street art and a friendly feel. Our guide made sure we had enough breaks and pauzed in between steep hills. We got to know...More
As photographers and graphic artists, we love to explore the urban art movement whenever we travel. Javier’s lucid and passionate tour introduced us to the Madrid street art scene. Taking us through several neighborhoods, he not only introduced us to local and ‘travelling’ artists from...More
We had a personal tour of some great neighborhoods, including some private gardens and abandoned buildings taken over by locals and turned into great spaces with local culture and great art. Our tour guide seemed a little bored but had a lot of great info.

Walking into this neighbourhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and
dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighbourhood.
