Church by the Palace

Huge church situated right next to the palace. Well worth a visit if you like that sort of thing - then pop into the Palace.

This unusual Basilica, with its circular layout, is magnificently decorated with frescoes and statues, besides housing a few other treasures like the Gothic choir and a few paintings by Goya and Zurbarán. The guided tour is advisable. Enjoy!

Hard to believe that this cathedral is of fairly modern construction, but the modern art inside will knock your socks off, especially the stained glass and mosaics. Opposite the Royal Palace, the two sites can made a great half-day.

Very impressive Basillica belies the fact that it was built relatively recently I think mid eighteenth century but with neoclassic design very impressive artwork abounds the dome well worth a visit

From the outside, it's just another non-descript church. Inside is another story! Lovely art. They have an in-house tour guide which is great. Pleasant, polite, witty and knowledgeable.

I never made it in as the access the church itself, but my hotel was near here. I checked it several times only to find it was not open. The park next to it though - is pretty fantastic for the views - and the Dalias are gorgeous in season.

This church is another „hidden gem” of the Madrid touristic attractions. Many pictures, frescoes and a lot of history awaits you here. Also, the church guide is simply fantastic. We spent about 2.5 hours listening him and he simply amazed us with his knowledge and enthuziasm.

Very large Gothic Cathedral, not extremely old as other European chyrches...but grand nevertheless, beautiful story-telling stained glass windows, pristine sculpture and frescoes. Ascend to the top of the bell tower for a panoramic view of the city...Olé.

Our guide spoke only Spanish but was clear and to the point. He discussed the history and use in the liturgy. He was clear in indicating the art for object, the artist and the era. I've never seen so much gold...except in the palace. Definitely worth the tour
