The inside of the church is breathtaking - the dome is magnificent. Fantastic value at €3/adult. We bought tickets from Michael who was super helpful and friendly. We loved it.

Most of the visitors go to Cathedral which is at the end of Calle Mayor right next to Royal Palace. But in comparison to Cathedral this Basilica is 100% more interesting. It has one of the biggest cupola and the whole interior is painted with many symbolic themes also by famous artists such as Goya and Zurbarán. Try to get... More

A Basilica worth visiting. We found a very friendly and knowledgeable guide in the Basilica. Go round the different chapels to enjoy the paintings. Make sure you visit the sacristy. It is certainly worth going round quietly by yourself after you do the tour. Some paintings here also belong to the Prado.

If you have to choose between this and the cathedral, hands down this is the winner. Stunning dome, statues, and paintings. No tours on Sundays so you won't see the 52 paintings. Take the tour to see the paintings. This basilica is intended by the builders to display the greatness of God, and it's done a good job of it.... More

Attended Mid-Night Christmas Eve mass. Doesn't get the queues of the National Cathedral to the north as it is in Old town La Latina south of the main tourist attractions like the National Cathedral 1 mile away. Important to Spain as contains Goya artworks and neoclassical architecture dates several centuries old so a cardinal presided the service. Not open all... More

This is a beautiful, stunning building, when we visited there were no queues to get in and the interior is amazing. A nice place to sit and relax away from the hustle and bustle of Madrid.

The artwork included a piece by Goya. Typical of religious artwork from the 15th -19th century. The tour (included for 3 euro) was in spanish and I do not speak spanish. However, take it to see all of the hidden places and have the lights turned on in each of the areas.

Madrid's Beautiful Basilica is worth a peek before or after visiting the Royal Palace. Very much like many of Europe's churches.
