We popped by here on a jaunt through Chueca to acquire lunchables to eat in Buen Retiro. We were pleasantly surprised by these compact but well organised markets. The levels comprise fruteria, queseria etc as well as tapas and finally bars on the rooftop. We...More

Mercado de San Anton is the perfect place for tapas and drinks. The food court level has a pretty nice variety of food types, with pretty good prices. The rooftop bar and restaurant is one of the coolest places in Madrid, in my opinion, for...More

This is a fairly small and very sanitised market when compared to others. Still it has great displays and places to eat.

Stumbled across this place and it is a real find for gastronomes and tapas lovers. Head to the cucina San anton on the rooftop terrace for cocktails.

We surveyed the produced stalls and styled on lunch tapas style upstairs. A nice look into local produce and food preparation.

Were there to buy a few fruits as snacks. The guy selling the fruit starting yelling at my daughter because she picked up a kiwi to see if it was ripe enough to eat. I would never buy any fruit without checking for the hardness....More

Great roof top for drinks. Good restaurant also. But food stalls below used to serve better quality in former times and prices now are too high for what you get.

Look - it's a market AND it's a favourite with the tourists. But that's not always a bad thing especially when it is also patronised by the locals !! This place is busy, atmospheric, plenty to see, plenty to eat and drink (not so many...More

Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where
many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where
the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and
people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main
thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is
Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables
serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture
of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses

It is just a food market with restaurants. I have surfed the web and note that the restaurants are open all year round.
