Metropolis is one of the many fine buildings along Gran Via. The dome is quite interesting with statue and gold decoration but the rest of the building is nothing special.

The Metropolis lies at the foot of Gran Via and is a wonderful looking building. It's contrasting black and white colours complete with it's gold dome on top and intricate white pillars and figurines make it well worth viewing.

This building caught my eye when I first got off the bus form the airport. Next day, I walked by it and took some pictures. The surrounding buildings are very nice as well. Very nice area to walk around.

Είναι αδύνατον να μην το δεις είναι τόσο μα τόσο ωραίο που σταματάς για να το χαζέψεις .... After La Unión y el Fénix acquired the ground in 1905, they launched an international competition for the opportunity to design their building. Among French and Spanish...More

Only saw this from the outside, but it is very impressive. Statue at the top is eye-catching and one must take the time to capture it on your camera, if for nothing else than the memory.

We passed by the Metropolis building several times and admittedly it is very impressive and iconic from an architectural perspective. I understand that the building is occupied by a commercial entity so it isnt as if you can go in for a look around.

Only built in 1911 but still a nice benchmark of Madrid. Not open for vistors and you don't need special arrangements to see it, it is on the main path of visiting Madrid by foot. Go see it!

The Metropolis is Madrid's most iconic building; it's a beautiful Beaux Arts building in the heart of the city; just passing by it as I did on my trip to Madrid in June was a thrill; while the extraordinary dome isn't as visible at night,...More

We became intimately acquainted with this beautiful building while in Madrid, as we stayed in a hotel (Principal Madrid) directly across the street from it. We spent lots of time on the open 7th floor terrace of the hotel, and found ourselves directly across from...More

Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where
many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where
the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and
people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main
thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is
Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables
serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture
of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses
