A very enthusiastic and fiery, though diminutive, Spanish historian takes you through the streets of Madrid, explaining with the aid of an incredible collection of photos, what really happened and the role of the international brigades. There is a stop for coffee, but the tour is quite intense and you will be expected to take an interest in the Republican... More

I had a limited time in Madrid and have found, in the past, that the best way to do so is to hire a private guide. When I did so in Madrid I was delighted to be shown around by Jose, a learned and distinguished gentleman, with a thorough knowledge of the city and its history. I decided on the... More

We (a family of 4) spend the last two mornings with Jose as our guide. Jose was an excellent guide at the Prado Museum, the Royal Palace and around old town Madrid. He is knowledgable, passionate and a great storyteller. We can easily recommend Jose as tour guide to other parties visiting Madrid.

Jose is a retired professor of art history and a native of Madrid. He was the perfect source of knowledge of history, politics and art for a tour of the Palace. Well worth the cost, and with a private tour you don't have to wait on the long line.

This was a wonderful tour of the Prado. Jose was incredibly knowledgeable and provided insights we would never have learned.

It is very much known that the national Prado museum in Madrid is one of the best attractions to visit. In order to make this attraction even better our group (7 people) contacted a guide by the name of Furio Jose. One cannot explain how much this guide made our visit to the museum much more than a regular high... More

I highly recommend contacting Almudena of Across Madrid for tours of Madrid, especially her tour of the Prado. Almu is a highly educated art historian, and in 3 hours (for a reasonable price), she took 2 of us through the Prado in a tour that was educational, enlightening, and fun. Almu is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of Madrid, including... More

I often finish my tour of a museum feeling sleepy and exhausted. I can't wait to sit down. My feet hurt; my back hurts. I need a nap. And I can hardly put together what I have seen. On this tour, the first time I looked at my watch, it was already a few minutes over the two hours of... More

We did a private tour with Sr. Furio of the Prado and it was like an Ivy League college lecture with a truly knowledgeable professor. Sr. Furio pointed out aspects of the Prado's masterpieces by Tinterreto, Titian, Goya, El Greko and Valesquez that only someone trained for years in art history would be able to explain. In addition, Sr. Furio... More

We are three couples who have traveled together all over Europe and Asia for decades. We are well prepared and informed about those places for which we arrange guided help. Joseph ( Jose Andres Furio ) was our guide/professor for two days in and around Madrid - two very short 4 hour tours of the Prado followed, the next day,... More
