We highly recommend Almudena's Spanish Civil War talk. She is hugely knowledgeable, energetic and passionate about her topic and used carefully thought out resources to support her well-planned itinerary.

The topic is largely 'hidden from history' yet it so important to understanding Spanish society, culture and politics.

Almudena's insights were based on her extensive research and provided hitherto unknown information about the history of this amazing city and its people. We thoroughly recommend it to others.

Prof. Almu is both extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the art and history of the Prado. We enjoyed our tour and I recommend a private tour with Prof. Almu because she makes it a story and gives interesting facts you just would not get on your own. I think we appreciated and got more out of the experience of the Prado.

Almu gave us an amazing tour of the Prado. It enhanced our appreciation of the works of art tremendously. But more than that, she gave us a new approach for thinking and studying art that we carried with us throughout our visit in Spain. We highly recommend Almu for anyone visiting the Prado or wanting to understand the critical nuances of art and art history.

This was the highlight of our trip to Madrid and I highly recommend for families with kids who want to introduce them to the wonders of the Prado. We are a family of four, with two children ages 12 and 7. Almu was a pro at engaging the kids for 2.5 hours--they were mesmerized and never once complained about being tired! I was amazed that my 7 year-old daughter, in particular, learned so much about Spanish history and culture that she recognized symbols and religious stories in other sites across Spain. This is absolutely worth every penny for families who want a fun and educational experience at the Prado.

Having been on the Across Madrid Cultural Tours brilliant walking tour of Spanish Civil War sites with Almudena a few years ago, my wife and I were returning to Madrid and wanted to visit the Prado Museum, so what better way than to ask Almudena to be our guide.
On our travels we visit many museums, galleries, churches etc. so look at many paintings without always fully understanding the symbolism of what the artist has painted. In our 3 hour tour Almudena showed us the key exhibits of the Prado (as well as a few of her personal favourites) and gave us insights into what story the picture was telling as well as placing it into its historical context - all in a friendly, easy to understand and enjoyable way. The 3 hours seemed to pass incredibly quickly. Thank you Almu, your tour was the highlight of our holiday.
Thoroughly recommend this tour to all.

Almu sacrificed her own time with her children on a Sunday to fit us in for a very last minute tour of the Prado.
To our amazement, Almu immediately gained our 5 year old's trust and captured her attention with her very rewarding art treasure hunt. She was very patient, kind, and clearly knows the Prado like the back of her hand. We covered so much art, interesting facts, and history in those 2 jet lagged hours. Amazingly they all stick in our heads and we can't wait to go to our local museum and check out all the works Almu suggested in her follow up email after our tour. She's a wonder woman and we highly recommend her for families, even with young children like ours.

Our visit to the Prado with Dr. Almu was a real high point of our trip to Spain. My kids are 17, 14 and 8 and all three of them were so deeply engaged with her tour of the museum and still talk about what they enjoyed and found intriguing. Her tour went above and beyond my expectations, which were to touch on some of the key art works at the museum and give some background. She did that of course, but also delved into details, common themes, history and contextual elements that brought everything we looked at to life. In addition to her very capable tour, she is also a wonderful person and was very kind to us. Highly recommend!

Almu's tour made this museum visit so much more accessible, meaningful and fun for me. I'd visited before, on my own, but her tour gave me the historical background, the role of the collector, and the lives and approaches of the key artists whose masterworks are among the museum's highlights. Friends had told me this was the best money they spent and I can't agree more. I highly recommend Almu. She is well prepared and thorough and tailors her presentation to her audience.

My wife and I, along with our daughter and her husband, visited Madrid for the first time in late March, 2023. We booked two tours with Almudena. The first was the Madrid Briefing Tour in which she lead us on a very casual but informative stroll through Madrid's central neighborhoods. In addition to providing information about the major landmarks such as the National Palace and Plaza Mayor, Almu gave us insight into points of interest that we would have completely overlooked without the benefit of her local expertise. Our second tour was to the Prado where Almu's specialized knowledge of art history gave us context and understanding to this amazing collection. Thanks to her clear narrative and instructive answers to our questions, we were able to comprehend more from this single visit than if we had studied and visited for weeks on our own. Arranging the tours with Almudena was very straightforward. She is professional and responsive in corresponding with clients and providing all the necessary details. We are particularly grateful that she was willing to squeeze us in for the Prado tour on a day that she already had a very full schedule. She truly cares about doing everything she can to make visitors to her city feel welcome and enlightened. I have travelled a fair bit and have used many local guides. I would rate Almudena as one of the very best and will certainly call on her again for any future visit.

Almu was fantastic. She was obviously extremely knowledgeable of El Prado and everything within. She emailed us ahead of time to ask about our kids’ specific interests in case she could tailor her tour in any way. She had a scavenger hunt of sorts for them, to keep them engaged, and had them write down key words along the way to reinforce their understanding. It’s been a month since we visited, and we just asked our kids recently to share with their grandparents what they remember, and they remembered all of the main things Almu had taught them. They (and truly, all of us) are better equipped to view artwork in any museum as a result of her teachings while we were in El Prado. My 10 year-old even commented how glad he was that he had her tour when we visited another museum later in the trip, as he better understood what he was seeing. I couldn’t recommend Almu enough. If you are planning to see El Prado with your family, Almu is worth every penny.
