Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Took this Prado Museum tour with my about-to-6-year old daughter, who has very limited background on western paintings. She really enjoyed it. After spending 2.5hrs tour with Almu, she stayed in the gallery for one more hour to just look at those paints. Prior to this tour, I was never able to keep her in any art museum for more than 60mins.

I was lucky enough to do a solo tour with Almudena. My reasons for wanting to do this tour specifically and with her is because I wanted a historical tour based on fact, not propaganda, from someone who is an expert in this area; I have a personal familial connection to Spain that is also specific to the Spanish civil war era; and lastly I studied transitional justice as part of my masters degree. This tour was better than I could have possibly expected. And Almudena is so warm that the hours passed effortlessly. I HIGHLY recommend this tour if you want the real history of this era. You won’t be disappointed.

Alum passionately narrates a walking tour of Madrid’s civil war sites that brings to life the sacrifices the general public was subjected to during the Spanish Civil War. From the bullet scarred University to the site of the Florida Hotel, Alum weaves a personal story that illuminates the struggle between progressives and fascists that is still very much alive in today’s world. This tour resonates the history of the republicans’contributions to modernize life in Spain. A history which Franco’s fascist supporters continue to surprise. This tour is a must for anyone who seeks to understand the significance of the Spanish Civil War.

Dr. Almudena Cros provides a comprehensive tour of the fighting at the University of Madrid and important sites such as the Florida Hotel in telling the story of the civil war. It is well worth your time if you want to better understand the war and how it still resonates to this day in Spain.

Did two tours with Almu and she really shows her passion, knowledge, and empathy for the people and topic. She's a teacher so she portrays the information really well. It shows she really cares about the history of Spain.

The Madrid Briefing walking tour was excellent, Almundena's knowledge of history impressive, and her enthusiasm for Madrid contagious. We would highly recommend Almundena and this tour to anyone new to visiting this beautiful historic city. We got lucky too and saw an annual event where shephards lead their sheep through the streets of Madrid (Fiesta de la Trashumancia). As a bonus, Almundena also gave great recommendations of restaurants and places to visit with easy instructions!

We did the "Madrid Briefing" with Dr. Almudena Cros. She was fabulous. She spent some time at the beginning of the tour going through some Spanish history, which was really helpful in putting context to many things we had seen throughout our trip in Spain. We walked through the historic center of Madrid, and stopped in a local market. She was an excellent, informative, and interesting guide. I would love to take another tour with her one day. Having done the briefing, I am sure that she would be great for one of the history or art tours as well. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Cros gives an amazing tour on the Civil War that brings to life a conflict so often forgotten and overlooked. Just below the surface of the city is a dark past, the scars of which are only visible to those like Dr. Cros who choose to keep the knowledge alive.

Earlier this year I listened to an episode of The Sobremesa Podcast with Dr Almu Cros talking about the Prado. She came across so well, I noted her tour company Across Madrid Cultural Tours from its show notes, and booked myself and my wife on a tour of the Prado for the last week of September. From the excellent email contact ahead of the tour, the actual tour itself, plus the follow-up links afterwards I can definitely say it is the best guided art gallery tour that I have been on. Highly knowledgeable, an excellent communicator, Dr Almu brings this outstanding gallery to life. Highly highly recommended! Will definitely be returning to Madrid, and taking in more of her tours when doing so. In this review I have concentrated on the Prado, but we also did the Thyssen-Bornemisza with her the next day, and all of the above applies to that tour as well.

I will never visit an art museum again without a professional guide and historian — Almu brought some of El Prado’s most famous artworks to life… We were visiting Madrid with our 6 year old son (who like other 6 year old boys likes playing outdoors and on his Nintendo) — and the 2 hour Children’s Prado Tour was absolutely perfect! Almu was engaging, had a scavenger hunt prepared, and broadened our horizons as a family. Our son couldn’t stop talking about the details she shared on the tour throughout our 10 day vacation — I am so surprised how well a trip to an art museum could go with a Kindergartener! I would highly recommend Almu for any guided tour that she offers.
