Excellent tour of Madrid concerning the Spanish Civil War. Almu has lots of information and visuals to help you understand what happened. There are no plaques or memorials in Madrid to remind people of the terrible things that happened - so you must take a tour with Almu to truly understand the impact. Especially moving was visiting the bullet-damaged buildings at the University - really amazing (again, they are in plain site but there is no memorial or plaque to describe what happened). Spain is still trying to sweep their history under the rug and hide from the atrocities - just as much of the American South has (in the past, hopefully) tried to hide from the terribleness of slavery. This is a strongly anti-fascist tour so if you are a Franco fan, this is not for you! We truly enjoyed this tour and wish we had more time in Madrid to take her tours of the Prado - she is a bundle of energy and a fountain of imformation. Hope you are lucky enough to enjoy her tours!

The Spanish Civil War history tour of Madrid is fantastic and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to learn about Madrid during that period, no matter what level of existing knowledge you already have. I had done some wider reading some months beforehand but was still blown away by Almu's expert knowledge and by how much her tour really brought the history to life. Seeing first hand where the International Brigades fought during the Battle for Madrid (the scars of war still showing on the buildings) could have easily been enough of a tour in itself, but it covered much more than that. I very much enjoyed learning about the wider social history leading up to the civil war and what the city was like during that period through Almu's impressive collection of photographs and personal stories from those who were there. I was also really grateful for how accommodating Almu was, especially as it was awful weather in Madrid that day and I had only got in touch to arrange a tour a couple of days previously. Her passion for the history is infectious and was for me what made the tour not only quite powerful but also enjoyable and actually quite motivating. I came away wanting to learn much more and Almu was keen to point me in the right direction for further reading. Could not recommend this tour enough.

Dr. Cros was amazing! She created the most intriguing and engaging narrative for our time at the Prado. It was the fastest three hours ever! We saw so much art and learned so much. She has studied these works her entire life and very knowledgable. I would book another tour with her in an instant!

Almudena is SO knowledgable about the Spanish Civil War. I emailed her the day before I wanted to do and she accommodated me, which I was very grateful for! I lived in Madrid for 4 years and have a MA in Spanish Literature and STILL learned SO much from Almu, this tour is a must! No pasarán!

We took Almu's Prado tour and were absolutely blown away. The treasures of Prado shined in the light that we would have never imagined if we were to wander the museum ourselves. I could imagine myself tired and bored in the Prado if not Almu who made the tour engaging for the whole family. She opened up the secrets, the historical details, how intellectual the art could be, and drew connections that made it so interesting that we continued reading about history and art after visiting the museum. What made this trip absolutely fabulous - Almu's passion about art. She managed to engage all members of family with varying history and art background. She managed to both highlight some paintings that I would have never paid attention to with her description as well as root some paintings in their historical context. Just blown away. The whole family was motivated to learn even more about the painting and history she describes, which seldom happens. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone going to Madrid.
