Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Chueca neighbourhood is a cool district of Madrid, it's a vibrant area and streets such as Calle De Hortaleza that make it such a wonderful place to visit.
The street is very similar to most every other street in this area,a mix of shops, bars and restaurants, old cool looking architecture, the buildings here have a faded elegance that I love, its a great street and area to visit especially at night when you see the very best of Madrid nightlife.
Well worth checking out if your in the area.

We were on our way to a restaurant and passed by this street. It certainly is a bit different from some other streets. It is narrow, like many other streets, but it is full of small shops, and it seemed to us some of those were really struggling to survive. Some were closed. Later we learned that this area has a large number of migrants. There is a large variety of shops and that includes grocery shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as souvenir shops and electronics outlets. We did not spend a very long time here so things may be different on other days and times of the day.

Not very wide but a long street with shops, bars, restaurants and a few attractions to visit but not one of the better places to visit.

This was a fun and lively street we visited as we were wandering around the fantastic Chueca neighbourhood ,it's quite a long street with plenty of shopping outlets and innumerable pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants not just on the street but in the area surrounding this street.
It was just so nice walking around this area with no particular plan of where to visit and see what's to discover in this vibrant part of town.
A great street and well worth checking out.

We enjoyed strolling down Calle de Hortaleza as it’s a very lively street with plenty of shops , cafes & restaurants. The day we visited it was extremely crowded which was painful at times. We much preferred the classy streets of Salamanca.

This area has so many food and drinks places. Doesn’t matter how you walk in this neighbourhood, we always find a great place to have something to eat. At one corner in this street is this cute typical Madrid café for breakfast.

Super lively area with lots of people around seeking food and alcohol. And it's a residential area with the typical stores to support the residents. Full of life.

Historic shopping street in the center of Madrid, connecting Gran Vía with Alonso Martínez. It is improving little by little, perhaps it would benefit if they put a pedestrian part like the neighboring Fuencarral street, although perhaps they cannot, after all, it cannot all be pedestrian. Many hospitality businesses of low quality, with some exceptions. If you have fewer days than streets to explore during your visit to Madrid and you must remove some, you can not visit this one.
