Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful cafe even just to visit or just to drink a beer, we even had lunch there. The decor is a must see. It should be noted that next door, with access either from the inside or with a dedicated entrance from the outside, there is a bar dedicated to Hemingway (as in several other places in the world such as Havana) where crowds of ladies are photographed next to the statue in full size and maybe do not even consume a coffee. It's a curiosity but it should be noted.

Way too many folks mentioned that this place have marginal food, I was mostly interested in the Papa Hemingway details. I slipped in here during the early morning and shot some pics. The place is very nice! Well worth checking out if you are following Hemingway

I lived in Pamplona for many years in the 80s and 90s and spent many happy hours in this wonderful cafe situated in the Plaza del Castillo. In those days, cars were allowed to drive around, and park on, the round that surrounded the plaza, but not anymore. This is a good thing as there are many excellent cafes situated there and it's nice to be able to sit outside and have a coffee, beer or glass of wine without the noise of cars.

There's little point in my attempting to describe the decor of Cafe Iruna. You have to see it for yourselves. It's wonderful. The staff are very pleasant and I can't agree with anyone who says it's pretentious. It simply has lots of style. So if you are one of the many pilgrims who spends the night in Pamplona before continuing your walk the next day, keep in mind that Spanish cafes (like Spanish homes) are very clean and no one will be happy if you go inside wearing dirty boots and clothes. Have some respect. Pamplona was there a long time before people started walking to Santiago de Compostela. Just because you are a 'pilgrim', don't expect to be treated as if you are something special. You are still a stranger in town and Pamplona is a proud city. If you want a more, let's say, down-to-earth bar, go to the area near the Cathedral in Navarrería. There are plenty of bars near the fountain. If you act like you own the place (in any bar), you won't be welcome.

Have the menu del dia. It is way too much food but so good. The place itself is worth the visit but the food was excellent as well.

Just had lunch here. Sat outside and it took ages to be served by a miserable waiter. We ordered patas bravas and calamari which were terrible; demonstrated by the amount of food left. We asked for lemon for the calamari which never came. Give this one a miss!

Came here on a tour of Pamplona, as it was famous as a favourite haunt of Hemingway (his statue is in a back room.) As the tour director organised the drinks and brought them across, I can't comment on the service. But it's fabulously decorated, taking you back to the 1920s, with its marble and mirrors and chandeliers.

Don't bother with this pretentious cafe. We were a group of 6 pilgrims who had met walking the Camino De Santiago. Was it the walking boots or our casual attire that prompted the staff to totally ignore us for the entire evening? I asked for some menus so we could order and was pointed in the direction of the table that they were on. When one of our group asked if we could have a waiter come to take our order she was told to go and sit down. The waiter came in our direction but only to clear another table and all the others avoided eye contact. After roughly an hour of being in the cafe (we had purchased drinks from the bar ourselves) we walked out of the establishment totally disgusted. I cannot fathom our treatment. Fellow pilgrims please give this place a miss.

Charming cafe on Plaza del Castillo, very traditional and ornate decor. Lovely place where we had coffee and pastry on a couple of occasions, appeared to be very popular with locals as well as tourists. Price very reasonable considering location.
