- Giny SToronto, Canada57 contributionsSalinas de Torrevieja, Centro InterpretacionYesterday, April 21st, we visited Centro Interpretacion Parque Natural La Mata. Very interesting experience, we learnt a great deal regarding Flora & Fauna in and around both ponds. The lady in the Centro was very knowledgable. Aftewards we visited both Salinas, very enjoyable trip.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 22 April 2024
- Steve59Ruffec, France111 contributionsA little train ride to an area of interestFor €9.50 and €8.50 per over 65’s I think it’s reasonable pricing. The trip of approx 1 hour involves a ride on a tourist train, access to the salt lakes and a return journey. The guide explains the history etc which is interesting and the train has commentary also. At the exit of the salt works you stop and have an opportunity to buy some salt products. There is a public car park about 200 yards past the train stop which cost us €4 for about 90 minutes. The flamingos must have had the day off we visited or they were just dots on the horizon…. As someone else said “I also saw the mattress” but it was on public land obviously discarded from the road above and had nothing to do with the tour.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 June 2024

Not sure if bathing is allowed but there were people in the water. Pretty to look at. Unfortunately quite a lot of rubbish aroundVisited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 25 July 2024

We drove over an hour to see the lake and were so very, very, very disappointed ... first it wasn’t pink, it was brown ... second the smell was somewhere between a hamster cage and a men’s urinal ... third there was trash everywhere, it was like walking through a waste dump - beer cans, two plastic chairs that had been abandoned and sunk deep into the mud, baby wipes and - yes - poo in a piece of toilet paper right there on the path leading to the lake.
Just nasty. Avoid and go somewhere, anywhere else!

Visited the Salinas with a Friend in September 2020.
We Travelled to the Salinas on the Salt Train and there was Information about the Salt Works in English as We travelled on the Train. There was a Guide who got on the Train as We reached the Salt Works and She explained All about when the Salinas started.
We were Allowed of the Train to climb Salt Hill then a Visit to Kiosk to Buy Jars or Packets of Salt with Garlic, Herbs etc.
The Trip lasted Approximately 1 Hour and was very Informative. definately Worth a Visit.

Every pic of this lake is Photoshopped to hell. Drove from Alicante to here (1 hour) and it's a dirty brown puddle that smells of pee. Honestly it would have been more fun to watch paint dry. Ultimate let down. Wouldn't even give it 1 star.

So, those who complain about the lack of pink its all to do with the algae and bacteria balance and stress its under. Right now its low, so not too pink. Also brighter sun is good. Tip for taking pictures is to press water part of photo frame so camera or phone focuses on this and not the people. Brings it up pinker. Sad to see a lot of folk bathing and disrespecting - they are killing the algae... theres a reason for this restriction. Very beautiful place. Look for San Luis residence turn off on road near Mercadona supermarket... fir roadside near entrance.

We took the Trainvision tour to the salt lake. The history of the lake is amazing and the view is extraordinary. We were lucky that on the day we went it was windy so it cooled us down, we also didn't get any mosquito bites because of the wind. This environment is amazing and they open up a little shop at the end of the tour so you can buy some salt and souvenirs. We saw some birds but no flamingoes, maybe next time 😊

We stayed a couple nights in Torrevieja and did day trips and it was a good stopping point on the way to Valencia so while this wasn't the only reason we were here, it was a main reason.
I kinda knew going into this that it would probably be a little disappointing so I didn't have my hopes very high. And that was good I did so because while yes, it's definitely not blue water and has a smidge of pink, it's not like the pictures I see online (I'm assuming severely photoshopped or perhaps a once-a-year phenomena?) where it's hot pink. We parked in front of a white building on the corner of C. Sol & C. Venus and there's a deliberate opening in the fencing there. The walk was 2 minutes to the water through some very tall and moderate high greenery. The location wasn't the greatest and we didn't see any flamingo's, even in the distance. There may be better locations.
We wore regular sandals and wadded into the water to about our ankles. On advice from others on here, we took a Nalgene bottle of water with us and rinsed off our feet afterwards.

We’ve spend 6 weeks driving around east and southern Spain, and this was the most disappointing experience so far.
The lake was not the slightest pink and mosquitoes were EVERYWHERE!
We spent 5 minutes here and then left as we were eaten alive by the mosquitoes.
Perhaps it’s better another time a year but for sure I won’t be back.

We were looking for things to do with young kids in a time of covid. Kids liked the train and a nice lady hopped on when we reached the Salinas and gave us a few facts. Saw a few flamingos and saw the only true pink lake with edible grade salt. We climbed a little salt mountain and bought some salt when she changed hats and opened her gift shop.
Only drawback was the diesel fume spewing tractor pulling us. Seemed a bit out of keeping with the whole natural reserve

We are 100% disappointed by the fact that we made 30km to visit the salinas with your train. Unfortunately nowhere on THEIR website is written that dogs (even really small) are prohibited. Arrived at the train stop.,. we were refund after having pay because the girl noticed after we have I little dog…
Really disappointing and a shame it’s not written on the website !!!!
