Don't hesitate, put it in your itinerary!
Go! My husband and I were hesitant to visit what seemed on the Internet like just a large room with columns. it's absolutely beautiful, and it's story and history interesting. I highly recommend visiting with a tour guide or reading up on its history before to fully appreciate the experience.

An amazing building in the heart of Valencia
The silk exchange is a UNESCO building and it's architecture and gardens are stunning. If you want some quiet reflective time in a beautiful building on a hot day then this is a must for only 2 euros for entrance. The videos are informative and bring the carvings and buildings to life. Absolutely beautiful.

    Unusual
Worth a visit. The large meeting space with the tall spiral columns is very impressive. There is a further room with a decorated ceiling, but it is not as impressive as the main room. A helpful video gives a condensed historical summary.

    Stunning building
A truly stunning building with so much history. It has gothic style ceilings in the main floor with tall spiral columns, which are very impressive. There is a room accessed via the stairway from the orange garden with wooden carved and painted ceiling, a spectacular medieval work of art.

    The Old Silk Market
One of the major historic sites in town, a true knock-out as it is as pretty as it can be. The old silk market with a great video that tells its story. Great Renaissance architecture, cloisters, a big hall with beautiful pilars, a courtyard with orange trees. We loved the whole experience.

A gothic masterpiece. Well worth a visit
A stunning gothic masterpiece. We stumbled upon this gem while lost around the historic centre. Delighted we did find it. Cheap entry and stunning architecture. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and marvelled at the delights around each corner. Would certainly recommend to anyone visiting Valencia.

    Beautiful and historic building
This Unesco heritage site deserves its status. The large room with columns is breathtakingly beautiful. The ceiling of the room on the second floor is also stunning. Do not count on spending a lot of time here as there are only a limited number of rooms to visit.

    UNESCO building
This is a lovely building to go round with a small admission fee. The original silk centre with a most amazing main room with impressive columns and roof. Go through the courtyard to the upstairs and the roof in the upper room is breathtaking.

    Get the audioguide
What a well-designed audioguide! I love information to compliment my visits to historic sites and I liked this guide very much. There are 23 spots shown on a very clear map, but you can listen to fewer than that if you wish. The map tells you which ones are the most essential by marking these in red. We ended up listening to all the red spots and a good number of the black ones. As for the historic site itself, I will just echo others in saying that it was amazing to see.

    Surprisingly interesting historic building
This turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip to Valencia, even though at first glance it does have the air of being a square building of questionable interest. Somehow, I accidentally skipped the queue trying to get in, as everyone was being held outside (I think to let a group in) and I had rocked up to the steps to see what the hold up was when I was suddenly waved through, so apologies to anyone standing behind me (please blame the staff for that nonsense). It was free as I had a visit Valencia pass (and may also be free anyway on the weekends - I’m not sure) and it was immediately a nice oasis of calm around a pleasant little fountain. The video explaining its history was clear and subtitled into good English, and clearly linked the building to the history of the city, and the staff on the front desk were pleasant and also spoke excellent English. There’s not much to see, as it’s mainly to soak up the atmosphere of a Valencia from a different time and admire the building’s interior, but it was an interesting aside into how business was done there, once upon a time. It is a UNESCO world heritage site for a reason, after all.

Another landmark that's well worth a visit, very reasonable entrance fee, it doesn't take long to look round but it's a very impressive building.

Definitely one of the most impressive buildings in town. It has several grand rooms plus a garden in the atrium, and a good display of its history and how it has served the city. One of the best places we visited.

So brief, but so worth it. Maybe it was free; maybe it was two euros, but brilliant anyway. Just hang out there for a bit!!!

We didn't use the audio tour so perhaps we missed something as there really wasn't that much to see or experience. The rooms were empty which allowed you to see the floors and pillars and we did watch the film being shown about the history. We were told that this was a must visit and to be honest it can only be because of the history, not the experience of actually visiting

We chose not to get the audio tour & were pleasantly surprised by a good video inside, explaining the history & function of different rooms. Beautiful architecture & details with a bright courtyard full of lemon & orange trees. Definitely worth a visit!

We were València on a Sunday and made a point of visiting the Silk Exchange … it’s free to enter on Sundays and we loved it.

The architecture is wonderful and there is a delightful garden area to see, this building is a UNESCO world heritage site, silk was traded here and Valencia became a very important and wealthy city because of it.
There are detailed information plaques concerning the history of the buildings (with English) which was useful as my Spanish is still at an early stage of development..
They have some very interesting stone gargoyles if you like that kind of thing….

Wandering around inside you can imagine the people whose lives were affected by the trading that went on here, we took our time absorbing the atmosphere.

There is an underground vault area down a steep winding staircase and when we visited it sounded like there was rock guitar playing down there… turned out the music was coming from a street performer outside and the stone acoustics amplified the music into the vault….was surreal!
The Silk Exchange is definitely well worth a visit in Valencia.

Stop and take the time to visit this beautiful location. It doesn't take too long for you go through. Take the time to look a the spiral pillars and the intracite woodwork.

Free on Sunday, and the last day of the year, so it was a nice, short visit. We did not use an audio guide or anything, just strolled through the courtyard and several rooms. Interesting history, but we were in and out within 30 minutes. I know, blasphemous.
