Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I’m sure the museum is great, but the receptionist doesn’t want you to see it while she is working. You might pay for the ticket, but make sure you go several hours before it closes so that the staff can take off early well before closing. We showed up at 6:20 and the museum closes at 7. This is the only bad thing that happened in my 4 days in Valencia.

The silk museum had attractive exhibits and artifacts to view in a few small rooms that needed stairs to climb throughout the museum. However, I found the silk museum to be rather dull, and of poor value as the admission was 8 euros for a small museum that I completed in 15-minutes. I found the live silk worms on the main level, probably the most interesting part of this museum.

I was not sure what to expect from this museum, because I'm not that familiar with silk and it's history. But I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this museum. First of the location in itself is gorgeous: the museum is situated in a beautiful historical building with a beautiful mosaic floor, a hidden staircase and a very interesting old chapel. The building in itself is worth a visit, but you also have the opportunity to learn more about silk, the silk trade and the importance of this fabric for Valencia. The museum gave a clear overview of the history and you can see some authentic weaving looms that are still in use. Be warned though, the lovely lady who explains the weaving technique only speaks Spanish. I got to see some real silk worms too!
I was also in awe of the beautiful old garments that were shown in the museum. Very intricate handwork and what great care must go in conserving those garments in the optimal conditions. The audio guide is free to use on your own smartphone, so don't forget to bring your earphones with you.

A very interesting museum as the silk industry was very important in Valencia between the 15th and 18th centuries, The audioguide was extremely helpful. A must see is the Hall of Fame , there you will see an impressive ceiling fresco by Vergara and a very elaborate ceramic floor representing the 4 continents known at the time. Do visit the chapel decorated with green and white tiles, creating an optical illusion on the floor.
The building in which the museum is located dates back to the 15th century. Since 1981 it is a National Historic Building . Do visit the museum shop, there are some very interesting pieces to buy. Prices are moderate,

It was fascinating to learn about the advent of silk in the city and what an important industry it has been.
Located in the grand former Silkmakers Guild building that provides a fine background, many interesting displays take the account from its earliest days.
Lovely examples of silk garments are shown, including gowns and waistcoats. Upstairs is a collection of Japanese kimonos, exhibited in all their colour and finery.

Though the museum is about silk, how it's made and its role in Valencia's history ,the objects are curated so well that while seeing gorgeous objects, you learn a great deal about social history , in Valencia and Europe. The garments are breathtakingly beautiful. Caveat: This is probably not great for young kids, except the basement, which houses a loom and exhibits of live silk worms, at different stages of development.

Very interesting museum to visit. You can learn from the creation of the worms to create the silk live with a person who explains it and you can consult all doubts. You have a very interesting Audio Guide. We were around 2h and we didn't know this world.

Don’t waste your time. This place is not worth the time. Very little to see. Many items don’t even have a description. I would not even call it a museum but rather an attempt to it.
If you want to know about silk, perhaps you are better off going to Lyon, France.

We decided to pay a very minimal amount to take the guided tour here, which was very worthwhile. The history of silk production was well documented and explained very well by our guide, Jose, whose English was impeccable. The wonderful flower designs which one sees worn by the beautiful women of Valencia certainly seem to radiate from the silk history of Valencia. In the 15th Century, Valencia was the centre of the Silk Road, connecting Europe with Asia. The tourism department is investing heavily on refocusing the Silk Road as one of Valencia's main attractions, which it should be.
As an added bonus, there is a great restaurant the Espai Seda, which offers a great mid-day menu for a very reasonable price. The quality of the food is outstanding and the service is topnotch. This place can be found just past the cashier as you enter the museum. it is not run by the museum and is new, as is the museum itself, having only opened in July and June respectively. Both are very worthwhile visits.
