Missing piece of the puzzle in Matera
Fascinating history of the place in a well put together movie. I was expecting to visit the house, but actually I found myself looking at the projection of the history of Matera. I would reckon that visiting Casa Noha gives a well rounded experience to visiting the city on foot and understanding the evolution of the city and its huge turnaround in recent years.

This is a AV presentation of films explaining the history of the Sassi and the regeneration of the area further to the UNESCO listing. Absolutely fascinating and enhances any visit to Matera. Free entry to members of The National Trust. Just show your card.

A good introduction to the recent history and how the sassi came about. Best done first up on your visit to Matera. Worth the small entry fee.

This film is a great introduction to Matera and its history. Highly recommended BEFORE you see the sites and walk the streets of the historic village. It portrays the history of life in the Stassi.

Highly recommend doing this incredibly informative, interesting and moving interactive museum before visiting the Sassi and other areas of Matera. The whole thing takes 25 minutes and really allows you to understand the history and context in depth before you explore the area.

I wish I had come here when I first arrived in Matera as the four videos were great in explaining all the history of Matera. At 6.50 Euro it was a bargain and very worth a visit.

Watched four videos. They told the history of Matera from pre-historical period, to its glorious past, to the plight of the habitants several decades ago, and how it transformed from “the Shame of Italy” up till now. So engaging.
