One of the most beautiful drives anywhere. Drove from Sorrento to Salerno in 2-3 hours. We were blessed with great weather in the off-season. Did not think the driving was as difficult as advertised. Rent a small car and drive yourself. We left a bit...More

We hired a driver for our day trip along the Coast Road and were very glad that he was dealing with the traffic, narrow roads, and hairpin turns while we enjoyed the views. We were there in mid-October and the traffic was fairly busy; I...More

We opted to forgo the big bus cruise ship shore excursion and go with a Viator private car which was just the right decision based on the street widths of the small villages along the Amalfi coast road. Frederico drove us along through Positano, Amalfi,...More

We took this road in late September on a week day from Salerno to Sorrento, as we thought that there is not that much traffic on the road then. A big mistake. It took us nearly 3 hours finally to get to Sorrento. The busses...More

My husband drove the Amalfi cost early June, it;s not as difficult as we expected (but I guess it gets bad in July/Aug). It's so beautiful, especially on the way from Sorrento to Positano there is one place where we can stop for great pictures...More

We took this drive in a small tour van from Naples. What was billed as an hour and a half actually took two and a half hours. We lost time in Naples because of traffic and an accident. The drive along the coast was spectacular...More

I can’t imagine what this road must be like in high season. We enjoyed driving it in November as it was fairly quiet. Parking was the main problem as it cost about 5 euros an hour.

I have driven the road to Hana on Maui probably 20 times. This is a lot like that but with Honolulu traffic. It is a beautiful dirve but as the driver you are not sight seeing. Fast local traffic, zooming scooters and full size buses...More

Really really nice but some drivers do not hesitate to take some risks on this road, moreover the bus and the caravan create often some traffic jams. The coast itself is really nice but I suggest to move by boat.

You are much better off driving. If you have never driven that road you should indeed leave extra early. The very narrow road does not leave much room for error and the traffic will slow you down especially on a Saturday... More

Driving is ok but it is very twisty and with coaches and cars parked it can be challenging. We used a driver as it wasn't too expensive and he knew where to take us for the views etc
