This museum has recently been updated, with the collection nicely displayed in a fully air conditioned builiding (always appreciated in the summer!). The one "head's up" for those driving to this location is that the GPS had a dreadful time finding it, sending us down...More

Wow. Just wow. It was a cold and snowy day and I was looking for something not more than a short walk from our rental. The Museo Archeologico Provinciale was convenient, near the bank where we had to go anyway, and, most importantly, open. Now...More

The museum is well worth a visit. The goods included in the exhibit were interesting for the similar yet different craftsmanship. Unfortunately the major attraction of the exhibit, a bronze head of Apollo, was on loan to China, but we still enjoyed the other exhibits.

We enjoyed this musuem, it had some great history about burials, pottery etc. The large information boards were in Italian and English. The lists of items in the displays were not. We arrived at 5pm and there was a group of maybe 25 young children...More

A small museum, just two floors, but information is presented in a clever and modern way. It gives a good and interesting overview of the long history of the region.

They had some really interesting stuff here, some described in english some not. Its small and tucked away in a bak street near the cathedral. Only downside was that the day was hot and inside the temperatures were oven like, uncomfortable for us

Unfortunately the head of Apollo was 'on tour' but the rest of the museum was still very interesting and worth seeing although quite small. Great re-furb - well laid out with some interesting interactive displays.

I am a person who likes to observe every single detail of the exposed art pieces. This museum tells you the story of Salerno and its surroundings since the very beginning until the end. You would find explanations of the material in English and italian...More
