A great walk at the city.I loved Salerno as is a very beautiful city with a lot of options. Is only one hour far from Naples with a 5 euro train ticket. It deserves to spend a day there. At the night we took the Salerno eye and we saw the city from high level.

Our Celebrity cruise ship shuttle left us along the lovely waterfront. We explored a bit and after trying, and failing, in our negotiations with the few taxis around, we walked to the boat dock and booked a ferry to Amalfi.

The ride was about 45 minutes along the lovely coastline. Other ship passengers took the bus and were rather frightened by the heights and narrow roads, which required buses to honk as they approached blind turns to warn other drivers. Many had not been warned about the treacherous route.

We enjoyed the boat ride, which dropped us off at the perfect location for exploring charming Amalfi on foot. We tasted Limoncello, grabbed a quick lunch and gelato, and stopped in local shops before the return boat ride and shuttle to the ship.

The boat ride to Positano was much longer and not possible after our mid-morning start.

If there is anywhere in Salerno that I could spend my time on, it would be ‘The Lungomare’. I have been living in Salerno for four years and this wonderful promenade always keeps me smiling. When the weather is warm and sunny, this place is magical. A long strip of trees, beautiful sea views and benches to sit on whilst eating a gelato. Watch the boats sail off towards the Amalfi Coast or simply have a stroll. La dolce vita!!

My mother and I took a Sunday stroll along the Lungomare, and it seemed as though all of Salerno was also doing the same thing. Even though it was crowded, it was still a nice thing to do in good weather. For us, the highlight was a ride on the City Eye. For those seeing Salerno for the first time, the City Eye offers a magnificent view of the city, so you can plan what you will do after strolling along the Lungomare.

Great place to just stroll. Very clean, lots of people around, safe and well-lit at night. Some peddlers on the lawns, but they are not aggressive and not tolerated by the police. Beautiful views by the sea, tons of restaurants and shopping all around.

It is a nice place to sit and relax, to people watch.

In time when we were, there was some building works so the pleasure of Salerno lungomare vibes wasn't so good :)

While the city is quieter than Rome or Naples, we have mixed feelings about this place. Was beautiful here in October 2016 and we enjoyed ourselves so much we wanted to return. Found the city this time to be really dirty and the food unimpressive. Perhaps just our luck of the draw this time. The beach was not at all nice. Very rocky and there was lots of seaweed and an uncomfortable amount of garbage floating in the water. Would recommend driving a few more hours to Soverato, Montepaone area for clear water.

While sitting along a beach area on my first day in town, families were abound, some teenagers and well, it was just a gloomy day with gloomy people and I can't wait to return!!!!

Safe, three lane walking street filled with benches and lined with flowering trees called the Lungomare Trieste in Salerno.

The Lungomare has beautiful views of the Bay of Salerno and the
mountains of the Amalfi Coast on one side and the Cilento Coast on the other.
People of all ages stroll, jog,and bike ride along the Lungomare all day and night. Pedestrian friendly public space is a lovely addition to the City.
