- Rosemary EVernon, Canada53 contributionsmaking limoncello in Sorrento, italyLimoncello....during our stay in Sorrento one of our small local tours was in a lovely lemon orchard, right in the downtown area. We actively made our own limoncello, toured under the lemon trees and were given lots of info regarding the making of limoncello of course, but also all about the trees, grafting, shade, etc. We were gifted 2 bottles of limoncello on our departure. A short walk from the city centre.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 27 October 2023
- Considered ReviewNorwich, United Kingdom1,297 contributionsWelcome to Limoncello hell-o. More lemon-based products than you could throw a citrus stick at.Great little place. A Limoncello factory/brewey/winery with tours around a small lemon grove/garden at the back with a tasting session of several different flavours - including liquorice! Then back to the shop for Limoncello products and ice creams etc in a little indoor seating area. Toilets available. A pleasant enough diversion for an hour or so. .32We are happy you liked our garden.Written 31 May 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 March 2024
- Dhiraj MBur Dubai, United Arab Emirates78 contributionsLimoncello Delight in SorrentoThis place is just a brief 10-minute stroll from the train station, yet pleasantly secluded from the bustling energy of Sorrento's city center. We saw a lot of lemon groves in the area while travelling by train and wanted to visit one of them and Giardini di Cataldo didnt dissapoint us. Our knowledgeable guide led us through the premises, enlightening us on the meticulous process of crafting limoncello, showing how this grove distinguishes itself by hand-peeling each lemon — a rarity in today's automated world. The tour, spanning about an hour, offered opportunities to capture scenic photographs within the garden, peer into the distillery through glass windows, and indulge in delectable gelatos. As one of Sorrento's oldest groves, with the founder's daughter now residing on-site, this place holds a unique charm. I highly recommend this destination to visitors, especially those fascinated by the lemon groves and limoncello which are specialties of the Amalfi Coast. Whether as a couple or with children, this grove promises a delightful experience.how wonderful to read these words, thank you!! They have multiple varieties of lemons, oranges and mandrin oranges. They use them to make cello. They also have candies and sorbet. Louisa is very knowledgeable and inviting. She is very passionate. They offer free samples of lemon, orange, basil, licorice cellos. The lemon cello spritz is delicious. Feels like you are not in a busy city when you are there. They have a factory where you can watch them make and bottle the cellos too. There is no fee to enter the garden, I think it represents what any lemon or orange garden might look like in the area. A single path from the entry at Corso Italia leads to the workshop area. I was here in eary summer, in the late afternoon, so there were substantial flying insects getting at bare limbs ... so do spray some insect repellent on exposed limbs. Great place for photographs, too.

I'm not sure how things are organised at peak season, but our visit involved lovely ice cream in the most tranquil setting of their large lemon grove. Right in the middle of the scooters and the bustle of Sorrento this partly covered grove is a scented gem. Luigi and Anna served us and showed colleagues making limoncello liquor on the premises.

This family owned and operated lemon grove and limoncella factory is beautiful and right in the center of the city. They use the entire lemon to make limoncella, marmalade, gilato, and more. They make several varieties of digestives - worth sampling all of them! Definitely worth a stop!

We were walking around Sorrento and happened upon this place, we werent sure whether we could just go in or not as we didnt see anyone. We saw other people walking around the lemon groves and it was lovely to see and smell the fresh lemons still on the trees. We had been told on a tour of amalfi that normally the lemons would of been harvested but because of the bad weather that they had had and were still having, it literally started to improve on our second week; and that hopefully in a week or two they would be harvested so it was unusual to see so many lemons on the trees around. It was a lovely peaceful walk through the lemon groves and the smell of lemons in the air was lovely. Just something that you need to do when in Sorrento and of course taste and buy some lemoncello.

We visited a very fine and peaceful garden of citrus trees "L'Agruminato", which is located in the heart of Sorrento.
After the visit of the garden, we had a guide to explain us how fresh drinks and refined liqueurs "limoncello" are produced.
An interesting visit!

Great restaurant. We could feel the positive energy from the second we walked in! Our waiter was Michele Red Wolf. Very accommodating! I always love to have home made pasta with my meat course. Apparently he had a word with the Chef! And it happened! Will return likely this week!

Went here for a tour of the groves and a limoncello workshop. It was a lot of fun, the guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, and we were given a lot of free tasters. When you’re in the garden, you really don’t sense that you’re just a street away from Sorrento main square - it feels rural and peaceful. Lovey place to enjoy their lemon ice cream, a shot (or two.. or three..) of their wonderful limoncello, or just sit for a coffee and beat the heat under the canopy of lemons. A must do if in Sorrento.

This is such a lovely, tranquil oasis in the middle of Sorrento, and well worth a visit. We were treated to a tour and talk in the idyllic lemon groves, then enjoyed a tasting of a range of delicious limoncello. A much recommended and very interesting place.

We were looking for some limoncello to buy and wandered to this shop/orchard. It looks touristy but was also empty so we were a bit unsure. We got talking to the gentleman behind the counter, and enjoyed trying their limoncello, their licorice liqueur and walnut liqueur - we then walked through the orchard and watched a few ladies cutting up lemons and getting rid of the pith to make their organic limoncello in the factory section - well worth the visit and the most delicious limoncello we’ve had on this trip!

Is it possible to just stop by for a drink and relax without the tour?
Written 9 August 2022
Yes. In fact, you can just wander about in the garden on your own time. There's no entrance fee at all.

Hi, We tagged onto the back of a tour organised by others. Was it worth the money? Not sure it was. However, their ice cream and Lemoncello is absolutely superb.

Hi there,
From what I can remember you have to book your tour ahead or take a chance. December is not a good month to visit, I think it closed from October to March

Hi.
If you email Marianna up to a few days prior to your visit (the email address link is on the TripAdvisor page) she will be more than happy to assist you. Her English is pretty good, so you should be OK emailing her in English.
The cost of the tour is 10 euros, and you can pay this by credit card on the day, along with any purchases from the shop at the end of your tour.
I hope this helps, and I am sure you'll enjoy your visit to I Giardini di Cataldo.
