Loved this beach simply because it was quiet and looked a bit more local and less touristy. The food is great (fresh fish). I liked this beach better than the ones in Sorrento and you can reach it either by walking for 45min from Sorrento’s city center, either by taking a bus.

Great beach for first timer visitors to Sorrento.
Wasn’t too over crowded, crystal clear water and spectacular views. Was a quick 2 minute walk down hill after taking a Taxi to the parking lot.
They offer umbrellas and chairs for a reasonable price.
They even pick out a personal spot for you to relax and enjoy the beautiful views it has to offer. Overall a relaxing experience, a beach you must visit if you want to avoid the crowds and enjoy the scenic views Sorrento has to offer.

Following a guidebook for walks along the Amalfi Coast, we got lost and headed up into the hills near Sorrento. A wonderful man stopped on a moped and guided us through a private orchard and down onto an auto route that finally led us down to Marina di Puolo. Just as you always imagine when thinking of small Italian ports along the sea, this marina is so picturesque with a narrow winding pathway down stairs to small piers and colorful boats tied up. A collection of buildings stacked together along the shore provide homes, businesses and workshops primarily for the fishing trade. There is a nice wide sandy beach along the marina as well. One local entrepeneur had set up his cafe tables right out in the sand. Folks were enjoying lunch in the sun. We enjoyed lunch at an outside table closer to the cafe, St. Raphael. Proprietor Luigi was engaging and the food was great.

If you are staying in Sorrento, this is a great alternative to the beach establishments on the Marina Grande. We had a hired car to get there, but there are local buses you can catch from the main square and it is only a short ride. There is a winding road down to it. We parked at a parking place between trees and walked down. It was naturally crowded in August with all the locals on holiday as well, but we managed to purchase four beds and two umbrellers for E25.00 -much cheaper than on the Sorrento piers. We were towards the back from the shore, but this made it easier to buy drinks from the cafe / restaurants behind, without walking a long way on the hot sand. We had a lovely day on the beach and stopped until the sun went down. There are shower and changing facilities. We finished our day by eating our evening meal at the Tratorria Di Tavernetta which was a very nice restaurant located on the sea front just a few steps from where we were on the beach. It served very good food - a good variety and was a great place also not only to view the sea, but to watch the local activities of people while you eat. (Take a mosquito repellent if you plan to stay until the evening).

We enjoyed two walks down to Puolo.
Get off bus at Cappo and walk 200m towards Massa. a path down on the right is marked Puolo next to Hotel Dania.
Down and down through Lemon groves fantasic views towards Vesuvious and beautiful wild flowers,
As an 80 year old I take my time. Into the Harbour and to a lovely restaurant nearly on the beach,
Great food without the prices or the crowds in Sorrento and the same wonderful views.
Ok its a bit of a climb back but whats the rush I'm on holiday.
However if your not reasonably fit maybe not.

From main road on foot - below Hotel Dania sign on right - notice tiny glazed tile indicating 1000m to Puolo. Walk down pretty path below Olive Trees - before joining very steep narrow road to a lovely shingle beach. Lovely view across the bay. It was very quiet in October (apart from the locals on a weekend) but the sea was very warm for a good swim!

This is a little bit of paradise just a few minutes from Sorrento. You will need to get the local A line bus to Capo, keep walking in the same direction when you get off and turn right at old white hotel, follow the lane down and after about 1K Puolo will come into view. It has a nice beach and some nice restaurants. On the right of the beach is a lagoon where you can swim.

Just a few hundred metres downhill from the Hotel Solara you will find this hidden gem of a beach. It is small but very clean (has a blue flag) with several cafes on the front if you want to stop for a drink or a meal.
The one little thing I found off putting was that the beach sunbed/chair operators stop you for the hard sell almost the minute you reach the beach. That aside it is worth a visit, don't forget to bring your camera.

We took the local line A bus from Sorrento to Marina Di Puolo. We mentioned to the bus driver where we were going and he stopped right at the top of the path that leads down to the marina/beach. Otherwise, go to the stop just past the Punto Di Capo stop which is among a couple of small restaurants. It is a hike down the path to the marina and you will pass a couple of parking areas for cars that were very full as we visited on a Saturday. The beach is lined with little restaurants and there are a few areas to choose from where you can enjoy the sun on your towel or rent a lounger. A couple areas were pretty crowded without much space between you and the next person. You will find sand beneath your feet rather than the pebbles that are difficult on your feet. Of course the hot black sand was difficult on the feet as well. If you keep walking past the crowded areas and past the restaurants, you can climb down near some rocks and get away from most of the crowds. That's what we did joining a nice group of locals catching up on the week's activities. The water was clean and the view superb. After our swim we walked back and stopped for a wonderful lunch at La Tavernetta. This was an unexpected surprise. The lunch was delicious! The large portion of swordfish was cooked just right and the carprese was excellent. After two weeks in the area, this was our best beach food by far. Raffaele made sure all his customers were happy, preparing things to their satisfaction. A taste of limocello capped off a perfect afternoon before the walk uphill and to the bus stop!

Take the local bus to Capo and walk a short way along the road till you come across a path leading to the right. Follow the path all the way to Puolo it is a fishing village with good beach and great places to eat.

Hello , I read about your posts of Marina di Puolo. I am searching how to get there from Sorrento without a car. Did you take a bus and can you maybe tell me from where exactly and prices if you remember? Thank you in advance for the help

Hey Sarena; no i, didn’t take the bus from Sorrento... I was picked up by my BnB owner, he was gracious enough to drop and pick regularly... it is approximately a 15 min journey... from the the city centre to Marina di Puolo../
