About
For three generations we have inlaid boxes and inlaid items. Every day we produce small masterpieces of Sorrento inlay and we do it to keep the traction that is gradually disappearing. Our products are handmade in our small shop in via Fuoro 33 in the historic center of Sorrento and we look forward to welcoming you to show us our creations. Welcome to GS Gargiulo Inlaid Sorrento.

- Karen APittsburgh, Pennsylvania43 contributionsSorrento Tarsia at it's best!A must see shop if you value generations of artisan work at it's best! From the moment we walked in we were in awe as we tried to take in the beautiful work that filled every wall and shelf. It was impossible to not just stare! Not only were we warmly greeted, but we felt so welcomed by the owner in this shop of timeless beauty! We walked out with a stunning music box and small piece that I knew I could transport in my carryon bag home. I have no doubt I will be working on trying to return or at the very least hope to find a way to order via the internet!Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 October 2023
- Victoria B1 contributionKind people and beautiful work!Salvatore was so wonderful. We walked in to the little shop because we could see his father working from the street and it look beautiful. When we walked in and began looking they opened up a side door with so many more wonderful boxes and coasters. We ended up purchasing a small box for our wedding rings on our wedding day and 2 coasters. In talking with Salvatore as we were paying, we left our coasters on the shop table and didn’t realize they were missing until we had already left sorrento. I emailed as soon as possible and Salvatore shipped our two coasters all the way to the USA free of charge. Thank you and keep making beautiful art!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 August 2024
- Tanya W2 contributionsBeautiful crafted music boxesA wonderful shop with high quality boxes. The first time I visited i emquired about some feet for old music box my late mother bought me from sorrento in the early 1970s which had got lost over time. Salvatore kindly found some for me I bought a beautiful inlaid box and returned to purchase a second music box the day before I left holiday. On this occasion Salvatore showed me him making so.e boxes which was interesting. There are a few stores selling boxed in Sorrento but Salvadore does go up and beyond on customer service. Please keep buying these boxes tokeep this traditional handmade box skilled by craftsmen alive. They age very and beautifully made tgete are soe lovely contemporary designed boxes too.Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 8 September 2024

We visited Gargiulo Quello dell olio di Sorrento as our final stop on one of our Amalfi day tours. The place was by far our favorite dining experience in Amalfi as we not only got incredible food and views but got to meet the owners of the family business who run the farm that grows all there amazing food and runs the whole manufacturing and distribution operation. We started with trying 8 different kinds of olive oil (they have 40 total) ranging from original all the way through to ones infused with lemon, garlic, truffle, onion, and chili pepper. We then had a platter of meats and cheeses and a fried squash flower stuff with Ricotta all of which is grown in their family farm. Following that we had excellent raviolis, meatballs, eggplant, and potatoes all again sourced from the farm. We then closed out with a lemon cake and cheese cake. Beyond all this food we also had wine paired with each course that was some of the best wine we’ve ever had ( both red and white). We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Sorrento you wont have a meal like this anywhere else and it comes at a great price. After we ate we bought olive oil and wine that we tried during our meal to bring home and share with our friends and family. 10 out of 10!!! Make sure you asked for Tony when you go :)

Highly recommend this quaint little shop! This shop is an unassuming place that is easy to miss. I was looking for a small trinket that would be uniquely “Sorrento” to bring home as a memento. We only had a few hours to explore Sorrento so I was in a little rush to see as much as I could. As my son and I were exploring along via Fuoro, a window display of wood pens, watches, and other jewelry pieces caught my eye, but I walked past their door anyways until I saw their next window display filled with inlay wood boxes and other wood pieces of art. Inside we found Salvatore and his father working on music boxes. We were welcomed in but not pressured to purchase anything. I had initially selected a small music box that could fit easily into my luggage until I saw a picture of one of their boxes in their card brochure. I asked to see it and was in awe of their beautiful handcrafted inlaid woodwork. As Salvatore was explaining to me how each thin delicate sliver of wood mosaic is carefully placed for this one particular box, it was evident how passionate and how much heart he put into each one of his pieces. Because it was too big to pack into my suitcase, Salvatore had it shipped to my home. It was packaged securely and arrived in 2.5 weeks. I am so glad that I stumbled into this little shop. I now have a beautiful inlaid wood box that will always remind me of my time in Italy and particularly my time with these two artisans.

Decades of Sorento linen and intarsia craftsmanship are displayed in a wide variety of objects with easy access and viewing. The sales staff is equally skilled in giving as much and the kind of attention that one wants. This is as much a craft gallery as a store. Enjoy a leisurely stroll. The hardest part is making a choice(s)!

The shop is like enter in a time machine. Joy and excellence are everywhere there. The work in impeccable. I fell in love with the music box, they are unique. The watches also perfect, the wrist watches deserves a place in a fashion show. I Loved the place and the family, hope their art survives for many generations more!
