Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the area right outside Certosa e Museo di San Martino. The view is nice. But if you can afford it, check out the views at Castel Sant'Elmo or Certosa e Museo di San Martino. The views there are much better.

Great viewpoint over Naples and Vesuvius.
It's also the starting point for a walk back down Vomero to Via Toledo. I would not attempt this walk in the other direction as it's quite steep! The walk down was pleasant, sometimes right past peoples houses! Not really suitable if you have mobility issues.

You have a long stairs to walk or you take a funicular, but once you are there you have the best view all over Naples. should be on your must do list.

Come here to watch the sunset or any time during the day to enjoy a great view over Naples. There is a pathway to go up to the lookout from the historical center - a bit hidden but if you use Google you will find it. The lookout is around the corner of S. Elmo castle.

We climbed 23,000 steps to get to the top but oh my god, there is no other place I'd rather be to view all of Naples. It was well worth the hike!!!

Crossing through the Quartieri Spagnoli, a tight alleyed neighborhood which used to hold the Spanish garrison when the Kingdom of the two Sicilies was still formed. From there there is a staircase which heads uphhil. Walking uphill the whole time we eventually reached the top where the Castel Sant'Elmo and the Certosa di San Martino are located. From there, a large terrace enabled us to have an incredible view over the old town, bay of Naples and the Vesuvius in the background.

The only minus is that the area, below the Castel Sant'Elmo, is somewhat run-down, but seemed safe enough in the evening. We were there one evening and one afternoon, and the views are superb. You can see Napoli Bay out to Capri (in the daytime) and the built-up areas.
Easy to get there by one of three funicular railways. There's also a very long staircase (Via Pedamentina a San Martino) down to near the Historical Centre. (Or up, if you like several hundred broad steps!)

From the Vanvitelli metro stop we walked here; the view is very beautiful and in the early morning it is quiet, although unfortunately everything is closed at that time. You can go down from Petraio if you are good walkers and arrive on the seafront.

You absolutely have to go up to Belvedere di San Martino; you will not only appreciate the view which is simply magnificent, but also the calm
from this place. The contrast with the center of Naples is astonishing.
The funicular to get there is nice and quick. For serious athletes, you can climb up there by the stairs.
If you haven’t yet tried “panorama” mode on your laptop, now is the time or never.

I agree with the previous opinions, namely a beautiful view of the city, the bravest will enter the Citadel, once the ramparts are reached, a beautiful view of the Bay of Naples is the key...
Access by car and parking possible, but be careful, the roads are in very bad condition...
Once parked, keep an eye on your vehicle (do not leave anything lying around inside), we have spotted walkers...
The place deserves to be valued, the cleanliness is relative...
